So between a brief glance down this thread (should've known to search HD first ) and DSLReports, it seems that SR is a pretty good deal.

With the 30-day trial period and whatnot, is it anyway possible to keep my current phone provider incase SR doesn't work as it should?

Yes. Just don't initiate your number-transfer till you're satisfied it will work for you.
They give you 2 numbers when you sign up.... give it out to a couple people you talk to frequently for testing incoming, use it for outgoing, and see how well it works for you.
All during that time leaving your land-line in.
Then, when you want to move your land-line number to SR, just fill out the form and fax it in. That process took my phone-carrier about 20 days to transfer it, so during those days I had both SR and Qwest (my land-line provider)

edit: be sure to get the free Uniden phones w/code

Sweet...so basically I'd plug the free phones into the gizmo, which would make those phones the only ones working for that temporary SR number, while the rest of the house was still the normal number.

Excellent...we'll probably have the order in by the weekend, sweet.

Question about Call Forwarding and Voice Mail

I had SR set up to call my Cell after 4 rings if I didn't answer my home line. But then when I dial for my vociemail with my home number from SR it goes directly to my cell phone instead of voicemail. Is this because of this setting? Seems like that would be something else right? I appreciate any help.

Maxx, thanks for the tip. However this is the exact thing i've tried, and it didn't seem to work correctly? Perhaps it's because i called someone in China and then 'Flashed' called someone in the US, then 'reflashed' back... the person in China was muted LOL...

gonna try it again just to make sure.

*** I had the same problem. My SunRocket line wouldn't ring at all for incoming calls - they would all go directly to my cell phone even though my SR line was suppose to ring 4 times first!

On the bottom of the Sunrocket gizmo, it says 5v 2 a
So it uses 10 watts.

That's what the heat feels like . . . a 10 watt resistor hard at work.

*** SUNROCKET'S RESPONSE*****

>Currently our number porting log hasn't been updated since 4/8 anything
after that hasn't been added. Long as you have filled out the information
under your account online, that is all we need to start the process of porting
your number to our service. By next Wednesday or Friday a new updated log.
Then we'll able to tell you what date your number should be porting over.

Thanks, Betsy

(So I guess all that you have to do now to port your number over is to fill out the online form.)

Have anyone really received the $3 international calls credit from SR on your credit card statement if you do use it at all?

Just curious...

Your post is somewhat confusing. Are you laboring under the delusion that SunRocket will pay you money if you don't make any international calls?

I just got sunrocket.
It said incoming calls would not work for 10 days but they worked right after hooking up my gizmo.
I got a $10 phone with caller ID and the caller ID works.
The vioce mail worked a few days after I signed up which was for about a week before I even had the gizmo.

Before I signed up I wanted to know if my second number could be a different area code and the customer service guy claims that is coming soon. He said like 2 months.

The gizmo also seems to work fine behind my router.

So far it seems good and I think the cheepest VIOP out there.

My service has gone down twice in the last 3 days. I've had to power cycle my gizmo repeatedly to get it to connect. For some reason, sunrocket tech support keeps telling me to reboot my pc when I call them. I asked them why would I need to reboot my pc but they can't seem to understand.

That's what I was thinking and I know I was wrong... I just used SR online chat to ask it. It's $3 credit but you won't get anything back if you don't use it.

Hahah... thought you find a little extra money saver? Heheh...

jlinsbo - it was happening to you with ALL your calls? Thats weird. I think mine was only happening when I tried to dial voicemail. What did you put your call setting to, like how many rings?

I just signed up with promo code WBFOGQ which gave me the Signature service w/unlimited US & Canada calling and 2 free phones for $199 annual. Upon completion of the order I was given a receipt for a monthly plan @ $24.95.

Called SR and Justin verified I was given the above $199 option but would regardless have to accept the monthly plan. After I got a little nasty about how I was going to make comments in a number of forums and that he should escalate my call to someone who could make a decision, Justin went offline for a few minutes, then returned and stated that SR relented and that my account would be referred to *headquarters* and assured that I would receive the annual billing plan.
___________________________________________________________________

Why not just cancel within the 31 days, and then sign up again under the $199 PLAN?

I'm ticked. No free phones and billed me at $24.90/mo. Gonna have to put on my game face and get nasty about this.

I'd appreciate some feedback, if anyone is willing. What would I gain by canceling and signing up again? I have the Signature Plan now, and the unlimited Canada calling is important to me...

edit: and it took UPS nearly 2 weeks to get the gizmo to me as I never got a delivery notice at my apartment and they were preparing to return ship when I contacted UPS wondering what the heck was up and had the delivery sent to my office.

Well, if you cancelled you could use one of those newer promo codes and try for more free phones but cancelling might just cause more problems. I would say stick with it, you have the hardware, things are in motion. I am guessing they haven't billed you still, right?

Got billed for $24.90. And, yes, cancelling would cause more problems as I'd lose my carefully selected phone numbers.

I really want the annual plan at $199 becuase of the cost savings. I think my best bet is to whine to SR as much as possible about *bait & switch*, not to mention the post-purchase promises made not kept.

As I expected, first tech support doesn't understand "the configuration file is indivisual for each gizmo", she even doesn't know what is configuration file... anyway, she passed my problem to "real" tech support and real tech support just fixed it right away, now my time stamps on caller ID is showing correct time !

But does your caller ID NAME work??? My timezone seems right I think, but the caller ID name never works--except for other Sunrocket callers. SR told me it doesn't work for anyone yet.

I noticed that if I enter the number and name in the contact list, it does show up, but now my cousin called and he was in the list but it didn't show up--maybe it's separate for the two numbers? I entered all of them in my signature number, and I believe he called the main number. Now I'm thinking that if they are all in the main number they will show up for the signature number as well but not vice-versa?

I wonder when they'll get real caller ID to work--they promised "this month" last month... :-( (If ever?)

Sunrocket needs to get hounded about the Caller ID issues. How am I supposed to spot telemarketers?

I'm assuming that your # is on both your state and national "No Call Lists"?

Even if they ignore the "lists", they get only one chance - 'cause afterwards, it is into the never call list time with SR.

Hehehe, WOW, I forgot about that feature. If I see the number for the telemarketer I can add it to the list. Only catch is I think some of them block caller ID. So I guess the solution to that if it happens a lot is to not accept any calls that do not reveal caller ID. But is there then a danger of not getting calls from people who don't have caller ID, or from other countries???
