*sigh* Yep, down for me in Maryland this morning too. This is my first outage! Weird thing was, some people called late last night and must have left messages. My phone was indicating voicemail messages, but I could not get a dial tone.

those at least you can pick up online by going to the website

LOL! That would rock. I can just imagine droppin the Uniden into the lap of the guy next to me on the way to the bathroom. "Hey, do me a favor, answer that if it rings, unless it comes up as "Mom". Thanks!

You're "considering" bringing the Gizmo?
Earth to Lake...bring the Gizmo...

Heh. Done and done. Will be a fine little test. Thanx for the help georgepa and bulletproof. I am guessing I will also need power converters as well right? Speaking of which, on the plane UA, do they supply power for laptops or have internet access yet? As you can tell I have never travelled that far.

My friend brought gizmo back to Taiwan and there was no problem at all, we still can chat over the phone as long as you want without worrying the phone bill. I think it's a good idea to order another SR's account for your oversea relative (assume they don't need port 80) if you really talk a lot.

It's very possible that I am going to Asia for several months next year and I will bring the gizmo along, that's for sure.

Would it be crazy to get this for my father in Russia so he can call the US and have a US number? Hrm. I'll have to ponder this.

Now, everyone with relatives around the world is going to get a Sun Rocket account for everyone they talk to. I guess it would work? :Q

Yeah that's why so many countries are concerned about VOIP, it's going to take away all their overpriced telco monopoly revenue. Tons of folks in the threads here, at BBreports, and FW bought free AR Linksys PAP2 adapters to unlock and ship overseas to friends and family.

Here is another trick for you, take an "extension cord with 4-5 plugs" with you and then buy a plug adapter (just the adapter that changes the shape of the plug and nothing that changes the voltage). That way u will have 4-5 US plugs at ur disposal at the same time. I used the extension cord and plugged in gizmo, laptop, cell, camera etc. etc. all at the same time

Yes. One plug converter like the on at radioshack and and a power strip.

EDIT: FYI it is almost always true that the adapters for your hardware work with 100- 240 V input but you should still make sure.

What you have linked to is an adapter, not a converter. You still need a converter to change the voltage from 220V to 120V. Without a converter, (in a country with a 220V line voltage) you will be frying almost anything you hook up to the adapter if it is meant to be used in North America.

Is any one having problems witht he Caller ID settings in your Call Features?
I set the Caller ID Settings to Disabled, because I don't want people to get my phone number when I call, but I do have to Enable it when the place I'm calling does not accept Unknow phone calls.
The problem is that me and my friend that also has Sunrocket, have our numbers showing up every time we make a phone call. I already try to reset it on the website but it is still showing up when I call any one. My friend did the same thing and still the same problem.

Any one else?

Just ordered...waiting for them to deliver my backordered Gizmo, hopefully sometime this coming week.

Any way I can hook up additional VOIP adapters and program them to recieve calls from my sunrocket numbers?

More importantly, any way i can dial FWD numbers? Or FWD numbers can dial me? Can any SIP services dial sunrocket, or vice versa?

Thanks,

Dave.

Serious question, why would you not want someone to see your name and phone number? Are you a telemarketer, just curious.

Well, privicy more than anything else.
I don't give this number to any company, just family and friends.
If I call a date, I don't want them to call me back at midnight.
They have my cell, which I turn off.

No you don't and that's what I'm trying to explain. The power adapter for the gizmo or for your laptop are already designed to handle any voltage in between 100 and 240. My notes are not based on "theory", these are things I have already done.

You are right that there are many devices that are capable of operation with a wide input voltage range. But, there are still many devices out there that operate only with 120V. I would not hook up just any equipment to 220V.

Some powerstrips are listed as 100V to 240V. They obviously work in any environment, just using a standard plug "shape" adapter. Some list only 120V (just checked a powerstrip in this room,) so those would obviousy require an actual voltage converter.

El Gauche-

Have you tried *67 right before the number? That blocks my number for others on a call-by-call basis.

A feature that had not worked right is now working 100% for me. I would like to find out if it works well for all. The feature: I have set SR to notify me on my cell phone as soon as a voicemail comes in. So, my cell phone rings, I pick up and hear a recording "Hello, this is Sunrocket voicemail notification. You have received a voicemail at (time) from (callers phone number) ..seconds (duration of message left.) That by itself is a nice feature, as it alerts me the second a voicemail comes in. After the notification comes the really cool part (for me) The voice: "Press 1 to listen again, 2 to hang up or # to get into your message box. Well, the instant transfer into the voicemail box was not working right. It has started working 100% reliably a few weeks back. So, when I am at a clients and waiting for a program to finish installing I get the notification call and can either hit # to hear the message instantly - no need to wait until I get home, also no need to call my home number to check and have my wife answer, thinking I want to call HER to say hello Just go right from the notifier instantly into the voicemail area. I use this feature all the time and am glad it is working very well again. Is it working for others?

It is wird, this feature was working fine for my phone, but now it doesn't work.
Any way, I tried *67 and it doesn't do anything.
Thanks for letting me know about the new feature.
That sounds cool.

Really? *67 and then th/ number. Don't wait for *67 to give you another dialtone (like a similar feature would with regular Telco.) Just pick up the phone and dial *67 immediately followed by the number.

Interesting, I wasn't aware of this feature. Where do I find this on the website? I wanna play with it!

Log into your account, then click on the VOICEMAIL tab. At the bottom click on "help section." On the left side you can browse through the info. NOTIFICATION SETUP covers ways to have the voicemail system notify you when a new voicemail comes in. You can also forward all your voicemails to email. This area also covers the very handy VOICE MESSAGE SCREENER, sort of like monitoring your answering machine and then, while listening to the message as it is being left, having various options of a response, including intercepting the call and forwarding it to another phone (i.e. cell) before the caller is finished leaving his message.

Here is the explanation of how the voicemail notification setup works:

BTW, sorry for your Astros. At least they made it to the big dance, eh?

Nice, thanks. I love new toys to play around with.

Yeah, the 'stros losses are a little tough to cope with, but I'm surviving. Hell, I'm just happy to see them take home a pennant and let Biggio and Bags see the series.

I don't count them out yet--they're pretty unbeatable at home, and frankly the last two games were so close that they could have gone either way. Still, 0-2 is a pretty tough slope to climb.
