Is your VOIP device in front or behind your router (assuming you have one)?

I've currently got Vonage and the service has been less than perfect and it's about 2x the price of this deal. Oh, and Vonage doesn't offer CallerID with name on outbound calls so sometimes your call will get blocked by 'Call Intercepter' services.

BTW - You may want to put a link into the signup page.

Important FAQ - if you're not happy with their service, you're going to lose some money.

What is ViaTalk's refund policy?
ViaTalk will refund any customer, no questions asked, during the first 14 days of service, all charges except shipping costs, activation, and eqipment upgrade fees. After the initial 2 weeks, customers have the option of cancelling prepaid services and receiving 50% of their money back on their remaining balance.

Yeah, but the '50% of their money back on their remaining balance' is the part that scares me. If I try this out and a month into it the service goes downhill I'm going to be out $80 or so. Not trying to threadcrap or steer anyone away from this deal but SunRocket offers the same type of deal with no risk. You sign up and if you don't like the service you cancel for a full refund. There's a HUGE thread on it right now.

You can always sign up for 1 month to try the service out. I think it's around $15 for month to month. The coupon code will still work
Then if you like it you can upgrade to the yearly plan

Month to month is actually $22.95. I've been trying out the 500 minute plan for the last three weeks and haven't had any problems at all. I got 3 months on the VT-500 plan with equipment included for $27. I'll probably be cancelling everything on my BellSouth line except the basic line (for 911, just in case) and switching over to the unlimited plan after the three months is up. They're having a promotion right now where you get a free 1-800 number when you sign up for unlimited.

It's seems like the FREE 800 number promo runs every other day or so. So you need to keep an eye out for it if it's something you might use

can I use this with DSL and get rid of my local phone service, or does DSL require you have local phone service?

I believe that depends on your DSL provider, and if they offer 'naked' DSL. I use Comcast, so perhaps someone with DSL can better answer your question

I had both Sunrocket and ViaTalk, but customer service was the deciding factor for me. ViaTalk is head and shoulders above Sunrocket when it comes to customer support.
I couldn't understand the customer service folks from Sunrocket. While ViaTalk actually listens to customers and even implements many of their suggestions

Alrite, I might get in on this deal... BUT, I had some questions about equiptment, I tried to search around on google, didn't find exactly what I'm trying to ask.

How easy is it to connect normal phones with that adaptor? Or more over... how easy is it go get your hands on and are they that expensive or much of a hassel over all? I'd hate to buy a ton of equiptment to do this, ie. new phones, and expensive adaptors for each of my phones.

ViaTalk will send you the adapter for FREE. Plug one end into your router and the other end into your phone and you're done. No equipment to buy and your old phone will work just fine

hmm, but that 2nd # is $4

The following service is optional with all ViaTalk service plans for an additional charge of $3.95/mo. ViaTalk is re-writing the rules for phone service flexibility and ease of use. ]

SR CS has just moved to Canada, so you should be able to understand them now.
Well maybe not unless you ignore all the 'eh's', eh? LOL.

CS is not a strong point with any of these players, price is king. You get what you pay for.

True, but if you go that route, you might get hit with this unless they waive it:

What are the activation costs for setting up a new account?
We offer FREE activation for our 12 and 24 month plans. All other plans have a one-time activation fee of $29.95.

Shipping is $9.95 with VT, unless they waive it too.

SR has no activation fee for any plan, free adapter w/free ship, no cancellation charges and you can fleabay the 2 free phones that you get from them to pay for 3-4 months' service in the first year. Or just signup for the $199/15 month promo if you don't want to fool with the phones (no free phones with that plan, but you get 3 free months). You also get ALL of your unused (prorated) money back if you cancel at anytime.

I'm not trying to bash ViaTalk here, I'm sure that they're good. But SR's deal is better, and CS varies wildly no matter who you pick.

I just cancelled Sunrocket 2 days ago and I guarantee the lady was NOT Canadian. I believe she was Indian.

Customer Service is indeed a strong point with ViaTalk, I can vouch for that as I've never had issues when I needed CS support.
