The basics:

Download and install the small application.

Sign up with a username

Paypal them (or cc) 5 eurobucks (~$6) to remove the 1 minute limitation from the acct.

Using a headset or USB phone, dial and talk. (little or no setup needed)

I've used it several times to ragchew with relatives and it works great.
The site says the system is beta, but the quality is excellent. I have no idea what the deal will be after the present beta period. But, so far so good.

Edit 10/4/05: Well, the 1 euro is now 5 to get started. I hope this didn't confuse too many who got going after the change .
Also, many of the countries that were free are now .01/min. Still a bargain for most, and the extra revenue should asure that it is stays around for a while.

VoIPbuster should have them thinking twice about if they may have made a mistake.

I used SkypeOut like 7 or 8 months ago and the delay from end to end was unbearable. Is it any better now?

BTW, change your connection to HIGH SPEED in the options and it sounds better. Atleast it did for me.

Though I can't get into the my account page to unrestrict it.

So 1 eurobuck = what in american? So if i pay them this I can call anywhere in the US for the 1 time fee w/o 1 minute limitations?

for those that HAVE downloaded and run their app, can you give some insight into what it does?
(if anyone has "spied" on the app to see what goes on, that info would be much appreciated)

1 euro =~ $1.26

Send them the ~$1.26 and it removes the 1 minute call limit . Then all the calls from then on can be any duration. The 1.00 euro remains in your account unless you call a country that is not free. - Togoland. USA UK Canada Germany China and many more are free.

It would be some interesting science to get into it . I don't even know if the underlying mechanism of VoipBuster is SIP or some other standard. I know Skype is proprietary, so nothing else will work with it except the Skype app.

I tried to call a friend of mine and couldn't get it to work. It works fine when I call a phone number though

app start button->your account->"click here to go to your account"
a page loads on your active browser
sign in with username and password on the web page (if it is timed out)
menu page appears:

Please choose one of the following options:

Buy Credit
Your purchases
Recent calls
Your personal details

choose " buy credit"
choose Visa/MC, paypal or ?TopUp

I tried just now and the sys is working for me.

I use the Actiontec "Internet Phone Wizard USB", which can be found for ~$50. (search froogle.com). The IPW allows using a regular telephone for internet calls. Much better than using a headset and microphone.
