Volcano 7 on Athlon T-Bird 900 MHz (A7V motherboard)

My computer is an Athlon T-Bird 900 MHz on an A7V motherboard. After one year I just realized that the original cpu cooler is too noisy. So I bought a Volcano 7 from Fry's. After I installed it and powered on the computer, it kept beeping, which looked like the cooler didn't work properly. However the specification of Volcano 7 says it should be suitable for Athlon processor at this frequency. What's the problem with the cooler or the installation? Any recommendation for a quiet and efficient CPU cooler? Thanks a lot.

What temps? Temperature sensor? THere is built-in temp sensor. Beeping means that the cpu is overheating. That's what the BIOS set. I don't know if it's really overheating.

The volcano 7 is a variable speed fan. In your bios you need to disable the FOC (fan off control). I'll bet your computer is in a very cool room and what's happening is the mobo is reading the fan as not working (not warm enough to turn enough RPM's). You may have to heat up the inside of your case with a blowdryer to get it to start up and run for you to enter the bios. With Award bios the FOC is under the PC health status

if your heatsink is not on properly and not touching the core you can fry (kill) your cpu in a matter of seconds.

I just put a volcano 7 in a midtower case 8 inches wide. There is no clearance between the power supply and HSF . This is no good I have to put it in a desktop case. This cooler is a monster.
