I want to let you all know, that not only is this a great service in America, it works all over the world! I use it here in Israel and the sound quality is near perfect! If anyone has any questions as to how to get it to work in Israel, or need a referal for the $40's off email me. There is a company that resells the service in Israel and handles the installation and provides lifetime tech support 24/7 email me at stuffmek@yahooo.com for details or questions.

My coworker can't stop raving about Vonage. I'm going to switch to it once I move to my new apartment.

Oh, and he says that 911 service should be coming soon!

Anyone else here realize that MazdaMP has probably already gotten a year of free service from referals here?? And that is was just copied off of FW?

If the deal is as HOT as it sounds, I think Mazda deserves all the referrals ...

I am definitely interested getting this when I move to my new apartment this summer and I am even considering getting it before that because I will be in Germany for 2 month, and having a local 310 number over there would be great.

Does this really work with all kinds of broadband? You said that you were in Germany and that it worked over there Mazda, did you have the T-DSL from D-Telekom?

As for Germany, it worked flawlessly.
As you might know, Germany has 220V, but the router takes
everything from 100V to 240V! Therefore you do not need
to worry about the correct current,
and yeah, I just plugged it into our German broadband connection
and it worked. I didnt even see a lag in the time the voice took to get back to me.
We have T-DSL in the "flatrate" package,
so I assume every T-DSL connection will work perfectly fine.

Let me know if you have any other questions,
thanks

Thanks!
That sounds GREAT!
I will probably sign up midth of April.

What kind of router is it?
Most routers go for $39 anyhow, and I was thinking of going with a wireless router ....

It's a Cisco VoIP router, they sell for like $150 on ebay. You'll still need another router to hook to your cable modem, this router won't help with that part.

I know about the VoIP converter but they are also offering giving you a router for your Cable/DSL ...
It's some netgear router but they don't say which model and I don't like buying soemthing blind.
Most routers go for about $39 anyhow so is it really woth it to buy the router from them?

I received my Cisco ATA 186 2 days ago and am using Vonage. Clarity is great. I do experience a small echo, but it seems to go away after several seconds of using the phone. $39/ mo + $5 for the Virtual telephone number.

Altogether it costs $39.9 / mo. for unlimited + $29.9 activation fee + $9.9 shipping = $82.
Virtual Number is $5 / mo. + 9 activation.

Coming from Sprint this isn't bad at all considering that I was spending $100 on long distance alone.

I have next month's Vonage credited to me for being a referral... if anyone wants to sign up PM or email me and I'll refer you to Vonage. You get 1 month of credit ... I also get credit.

I have had the Vonage service (unlimited $40/mo) for 2 months now. Though, the overall quality and savings are great .. you guys should realise that it is NOT comparable to the reliability of an "actual" physical landline phone. On roughly 8 occasions in these 2 months, the service quality was unusable and i had to use my cell phone instead coz i didnt have a Bellsouth landline. And when my cell phone battey died.. i was without a phone! When your broadband ISP bandwidth degrades, you WILL experience long voice lag/delays, echoes etc etc. In short - this is a GREAT option as a SECOND phone line in the house, and not the one n only PRIMARY line... unless you have a solid, reliable cell phone service with enough minutes to fall back on.
