Voodoo 3 2000 AGP and TRIBES

I have my Voodoo 3 2000 running tribes in opengl mode under Win2000
I have never played tribes before but I have wierd white dots all over my screen when playing. it is worse if I use the glide drivers than the opengl ones.
is there anyway to fix this? Doesn't do it in TFC or UT that I know of.

Hi.

Tribes is a Glide (3dfx) game. OpenGL was added later in a patch. If you have a Voodoo card- you should run Tribes in Glide. You'll get far better video output than in OGL because it's 3dfx's native 3D API.

I have a Radeon 32DDR and use Open GL for Tribes. I think it's looks pretty good, but Glide does look nicer.

Incidentally, Tribes2 (if it ever comes out) will be a OpenGL game.

ok when I try to switch it to glide my game crashes back to the desktop
(edit) fixed that by reinstalling tribes and the newest patch.(edit)

also using opengl mode my machine gun with sometimes turn all white.
when I fire it or move around it goes back to normal.

in Glide mode on the maps with stars in the sky you can see the stars through building walls, etc...

Boy, you got me there. Are you using the lastest drivers for your 3dfx card?

I've seen both the openGL problem with weapons (all white or all black)
and the Glide problem with stars. Those are known problems. I use a
Radeon in OpenGL and have no problems, 3dfx's openGL drivers s*ck in
Tribes - but it doesn't really matter since gameplay is much better in
glide.

I've been using a gf2 gts 64 since last night and so far the image quality is excellent, i've had no weird renderings yet...and got a much better fps than with my voodoo2. In tribes that is.

thanks. the problems are not to bad, but I will be upgrading Video cards soon.

yea i use a geforce2gts and tribes rocks!!!! and at certain angles or distances i can see thrugh walls only at long range though
