To RadioGuy: You say you got a Voodoo3 "3000" not the 2000 right? If I'm allowed to ask... where did you pricematch for a total of $80.25 for the V3 3000 + ground shipping at? Or if ANYONE knows where I can get the V3 3000 + ground shipping for $90 or less, besides Staples , please let me know. Thanks

Bleeding Jawa, in your original post you state:

<< (You can find the coupon codes on other hotdeal sites) >>

and farther down:

<< The coupon that I used was only $20 off (The site I got it from said it was $25, but I wasn't going to complain when she let me use it). There ARE coupons that are for $25 off. >>

Are you referring to other Hot Deals threads on this BBS? Or, Will Staples also pricematch a $25 off $50 coupon found on other online retailer sites?

Either way, can someone (Radio Guy?) please direct me to a usable coupon code.

Thanks.

P.S. What does B&M stand for?

What's involved in a "price-match?" How do you get Staples to match price? Do you physically visit them and ask for the discount or is this done through their web site?

yeah, radio guy, what are you talking about with the v3 3k, or is it the 2k? I don't know where you found the v3 3k for that price, unless it's an oem, of course...

I wanna make the call to staples, but I don't know where in their site they give away the rebates for $25 dollars.

Wait, wait, wait, you are saying that they have to pricematch with the shipping also? So what should I do? Should I have to tell them that I only want standard ups shipping?!?! Is there tax outside the state?

Dear Value America Customer,

Thank you for your inquiry to Value America.

Unfortunately, our price match policy excludes on-line retailers. It must
be a print ad.

We appreciate your business and we look forward to your next visit.

Sincerely,

To find the coupons, go to a search site and search for [Staples +"family coupons" +bargains] and you should find a site with something to offer. I believe the $25 off $50 has expired but there is still $20 off $50 and $25 off $75.

Staples will charge sales tax for any state that it has a brick and mortar store in which may be the lower 48.

Hold your ground on the shipping. They should not charge you overnight rates on items it takes 3-5 days to get. Better yet, price match to a free shipping (with or without coupon) site. Getting Staples to match the OEM card or an AGP card is great but it may also be taking advantage of some poor CSR IMHO.

There are retail versions of the card at buycom for about $83 with free shipping (the coupon for free shipping is at techbargains which your search engine should have found above). Staples coupons are there as well. Price matching at Staples nets you about $83 - $25 coupon = $58 + Tax (for most of us) - $30 3dfx rebate = $30 approximately. Still a good deal with no deception!

Best bet to order is to call customer service directly on their 800 number which can be found elsewhere on this thread. Good Luck!

You can get coupons at:
techbargains.com
&
bigbigsavings.com

PoloroidPauls version of this deal sounds good since he said shipping was free (then staples can't tack on shipping charges). Also, staples generally won't even bother to verify the price (they will just give it to you) if it is from a large merchant like buy.com & the price is at least in the same ballpark as staples.

For those who haven't figured it out yet.
1. Find some place that has it cheaper.
2. Find a coupon code
3. Call staples & order the V3
4. Tell them you want to pricematch w/ (merchant "x&quot
5. After they give you pricematch, tell them you have a coupon code
6. Smile & wait for your cheap video card to arrive.
7. When it arrives, mail in the $30 rebate to 3Dfx

Thanks BJawa, and one last question: Since Staples own site says free shipping on orders over $50, and if I have them pricematch a site that offers free shipping (i.e. Onvia or Buy.com) how can they even try to add any (let alone overnight) shipping cost to the pricematch?

PolaroidPaul: How are you getting free shipping at buy.com? I get the minimum charge of $5.58.

IF the matching store has free shipping, then Staples cannot charge you shipping costs.

Although sometimes they won't charge it anyway (they didn't even ask me about shipping & didn't charge any).

Now that many people have called in about this, I'm sure many of the CSR's are aware of it & you'll have to do everything "by the book."

when you go to a B&M staples, just whisper the numbers to the cashier.

She'll know what discount to give you. But you have to whisper it because staple's doesn't want other customers to hear. Also, just whisper the numbers, don't mention "code" or "discount" either.

Actually, it wasn't that much work. I printed out the product page showing the $82.95 price and the free shipping coupon from buy.com and took them into the local Staples. The guy at the computer upgrade counter was hesitant about pricematching an online price, and went to his manager. She said "No problem, give it to him for $82.95".
Then, when the cashier rang it up, I asked her to key in discount #90416. The manager hesitated about that one saying she needed a printed coupon, but when I didn't give up and go away, she relented. I walked out with the card for $62.44 after sales tax. Final cost after rebate: $32.44. Great deal as far as I'm concerned. Thanks to all for your help.

This is a great deal, if you can avoid the high shipping charge from West-Tech. I spent 20 minutes on the phone w/ a Staples CSR to get a price match and she gave it to me. She also couldn't find West-Tech's shipping charge so she was going to give me a flat $5 rate. Unfortunately, after giving out my address it turns out that all their available warehouses are out of stock on the Voodoo3 3000

well, I called them a couple of days ago (actually yesterday and the day before) and when I asked to pricematch the westtech price, she put me on hold to "verify" 20 min later she said that she couldn't do it because when she called the place, she asked why the price was so drastic they must have said that it's an oem, and she said to me that oem's are like refurbs, they don't come in the factory box and such, and she wouldn't pricematch it for me.

THen I called yesterday, and I wanted to know about the coupon, maybe I was still willing to spend $30 on a card that I already have (not so hot a deal if you already have one) and the guy told me that a lot of people use the same coupons, and distribute them all over the net. THey said that the coupons were for people who registered with them, or have a flyer from somewhere where they authorized.

Bleeding, tell me about your voodoo3 2k. Does it have *sd* or *sg* ram? DOes it have 4 rams or eight? What color is the heatsink, and what brand is the ram.

I found out that 3dfx has a ram shortage, so they use some generic modules mixed with some samsung modules. Read what they all say, and then tell me if one says "SEC KOREA"

Maybe I will get it later, I figure that I shouldn't rush things especially since the v4 4500 is coming out, and the v3 rebates expire 9/30/00, and there are some staples coupons that expire Aug.30, maybe the prices will go down at buy.com and I may be able to get it for cheaper. Should I wait or not?

1. You are getting jerked around with the next-day shipping.
2. You probably are not going to be able to pricematch an OEM product. A few people lucked out. Just match the price from buy.com or somebody like that.
3. I haven't opened my package because I may not need it anymore--may sell it as new. Therefore, I don't know what chips are on it. However, I do know that the 2000 doesn't come with a heatsink. The 3000 does, that's why it's clocked higher -- essentially the same card.

4.NEVER, NEVER, NEVER Call a CRS & Ask About How To Use Coupons; or If Something is "REALLY" That Price; or 'How Can I Pricematch This'; or ANYTHING ELSE!!! You need to uderstand what you are buying & HOW you are going to buy it--before you call; otherwise you run a HUGE risk of killing the deal for everyone.
