Yeah, I guess I will pricematch the buy.com thing. Question, did they give you a recipt? How are you going to get your mail in rebate? Oh yeah, you want to sell it, but I want to get my mail in rebate, except that 3dfx says that you need to have a reciept in order for them to give the rebate away. It's awkward to recieve a reciept with the order if you order online.

Did the package look used? That's the bad thing about buying from online people, when someone returns something, that's the first thing they try to sell.

So standard ups is $5? I will try to get the pricematch for $60 again, and then I will give them the ad # for the coupon, if not, then I will get it at buy.com.

I don't for people not to get this deal, but the guy said that if they caught people giving or posting their coupon #, that they will ban the customer from purchasing from them.

HELP!!!!!!!!

I am very sorry for the inconvience this may cause you, but for us to price
match we have to add the
shipping cost 45.15(for next day delivery, which is what we provide) in to the
price match.

I realize it is a difference in price but if you buy it from us then when you
use the $25.00 dollar
coupon it brings the price down to around $80.00 dollars and you would get free
shipping. And you
would more than likely get it next day.

ok, here is my CRAZY story

I called up staples, and this a-hole woman who doesn't have any manners pricematches that $60 deal (whoooohoooooo) except!!! She confused herself and pricematched the v3 3k that they sell for $130.

WOWOOWOOW right? Wrong, I was happy that I could now get a v3 3k for $60, then she said that they don't "allow" the coupons for pricematches, something I think everyone knows, but failed to mention to me.

So now I have the card for $60, ok, still a good deal, except it's a v3 3k AGP!!!!

and to top it off, she originally told me that shipping is free for items that are $50 or more, but now said that west tech has standard shipping for $14!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So the total is close to $80

I wanted a v3 2k pci for $83 at buy.com-25 staples coupon, free shipping, and tax (of course) so the total is $60, not $80.

Now I don't know, should I somehow cancel? Is there a way to use the coupons?!?! DOes westtech really charge $14 for shipping?!?!?

The easiest way to do this is to be prepared, read all the posts and figure out how the whole thing works. Do not email them, they will jerk you around even more. When i called them, i had the web pages open for my coupon codes, the site I was pricematching with and staples page for the V3 3000. If you look at the Staples page for the card, they DO NOT OFFER NEXT DAY SHIPPING FOR THIS ITEM. They consider it a specialty item and will not give you next day shipping for it. They tried to pull that with me but I was prepared and got my card for a final price of $25.28 after all is said and done.

well, I could say that I was pretty lucky, once I got on the phone.

I called the option 2 person on their #. I told her the story, and she said that I will be credited back $25 and was sorry for any inconvience.

I then told her, that I think that there was a mistake in the shipping, she asked me if I thought that the employee was lying, I said no, but I just want some verification as to where she found out that number. She put me on hold and when she got back, she said that I was right, and it says nothing, nowhere on the site, she told me to contact the company and ask them what's shipping on that item, so I emailed them and await an answer.

here is what I paid so far

v3 3k agp for $77.74 after $14 shipping and $3 something tax.
now I get an extra $25, and a 3dfx rebate (radio man, tell me, was there a reciept enclosed with the order? How will I send for the 3dfx order if there is no recipt?)

Best off all, I called BB and told them that my bro bought me a v3 3k agp, and that I have an outdated computer and he finished my sentence and said "you need a pci, right?" I was like, "yep". He said that there will be no problem as long as the package is still sealed, of course, I won't need my reciept if that's the case.

So that ends my story.

Somehow I think I am the only person here who still bumps this thread up

1. Be Prepared.
2. DON'T TAKE ANY CRAP!!!!

As I said....many people have done this deal, so they are obviously aware of it. I wouln't even bother with an OEM card. Match a legit retail card from a major online retailer.

Argue your *SS off if they try to charge you NEXT DAY shipping. That is B.S. & it is NOT Staples Company Policy. They expect customers to back down, that is why they say stuff like this. Get angry & ask to talk to a supervisor if you need to.

If you match a retail card, you are doing nothing wrong. If you use a coupon, you are doing nothing wrong. I get these coupons mailed to me from staples every week, just as thousands of others do. JUST DON'T TELL THEM YOU GOT IT OFF THE INTERNET. You are getting seriously jerked around...I think it is because you are unprepared & a little nervous...it is not illegal to use a pricematch & a coupon. In fact, over the past few months, I have ordered thousands of dollars from staples & I have used a coupon EVERY TIME, & I have pricematched anytime someone else had it for cheaper.

Or...maybe this deal just isn't for you if you are really having that much trouble. Honestly, saving a few bucks is not worth that much stress. Good Luck

no, you didn't read my above post . I got the pricematch, but not by the sales person, she said "that I can't help you since I am sure that we don't allow any extra coupons after pricematching"

I let it go because I got away with the $60 oem. But then she added $14 for shipping (which I don't know where she got it from)

After feeling ripped off, I called again to the status of order person, she was really nice, and I told her that I feel ripped off that you guys don't honor my coupon, she said what's the code, I read it off, and she said that I will be credited. She was sorry for any inconvience.

Then I told her that the sales lady said that there is $14 shipping for standard ups ground. I told her if someone could find out what the shipping is and show me a link, because I said I think "there was a mix up" she said that she or anyone else couldn't find it, and told me to call and find out, which is what I will do tommorow. If they say that it's $5, they will again credit me back $9 for shipping.

So my credit card bill *should* say
$77.74
credited-$25
credited-$9

Or something, if not, I won't pay the bill until they do credit me the difference that I was promised (I know that they don't want to feel my fury )

When I called I had the buy.com site, and the westtech site down, I thought that I would give it a try first, then resolve to buy.com

She said that they sell it for $87.99, I said "what" I am looking for the "2000" she said it's here for $60, I said "right". Then she left after 20 minutes she comes back and says "I could pricematch for you" Our price is $132.99 and you get it for $60+$14 that they charge for ground shipping, I was silent at first because I knew that she made a mistake about pricematching their v3 3k agp for a oem 2k. All she knew was they both said "3dfx", and I guess when you go to their page and click on search and type in "3dfx" you would get only 2 matching items, which is a v2 1k, and a v3 3k agp, later down the page it says "show all matching items" so she didn't even see that!

What was weird was that she didn't say anything about how drastic the price is, and she didn't call to see if they sell it or if it's in stock.

Then I said in a firm voice "wait, I have a $25 off of $50 coupon!!!"
She said that they don't honor it, I said why? She said that she was 100% sure that they don't match it after a pricematch. I knew she was lying, but I decided not to say anything because it will blow the rest of the deal. I decided that I will call back, and someone nicer will give it to me. I asked her "can I cancel the order in a day or two" she said "no, but when ups comes, you could refuse the order" So she was rude and said "so you buyin' it or what, I don't have all day to let you decide" I said fine, hoping that someone will give me the rebate later, or I will just decline it when ups comes, and get back all the money credited to my account.

At the end, I said "is there anything else I need to know" She said harsly "NO" like a b!tch.

Now to get that email back from west tech saying that they have ups ground for $5

I don't know where she pulled that # out of, maybe she misread "14 days to return something" not $14 for shipping of something.

So I should recieve a agp in a green box, but BB said that you could exchange it for a pci, one because I used to work there, and two, because I told them that my mom bought it for me and they were out of pci at the time, so she just bought a "v3".

I hope that there is a reciept in the package, and is the package sealed good? Or is it kinda finiky?

DAMN I WROTE A LOT
Hope you all take time out to read it

I just realized that after all that hard work, I should have ordered two or three of them

since shipping would be cheaper for three items, the invoice would come as $130 or so minus the three 3dfx coupons of $60, so the total would be $70 or so, not bad to have three for half the price of one

Do you think that they would have said something like "we are all out of stock". Then again, it would suck if my mail man got eaten by the lockness monster and lost my 3dfx rebates!

Imagine the things I would do with a total of four 3dfx cards, humm, maybe 4 desktops at once? Maybe I will dice one up and toss it in my salad, step on the other one to see how strong they are, and overclock the otherone till it melts !

I seem to have been lucky, as I did not have any problems
whatsoever getting the card. Called Staples, told them
about the pricematch, applied the coupon and got free
shipping. Got the card today in a HUGE box: thought I
was getting a TV or something. Final price: $43.10, which
will drop to $13.10 after the rebate.

One reason might have been that I thought the West-Tech
card was really a retail, as I never bothered to actually
look at it. So maybe I sounded really confident or
something, as the whole thing took 5 min.

The only thing I don't know yet is if Staples had charged
me the correct amount -- will see tomorrow.

BJawa,

In your last post you said:

<< I get these coupons mailed to me from staples every week, just as thousands of others do. JUST DON'T TELL THEM YOU GOT IT OFF THE INTERNET. >>

Do these coupons look just like those you might clip from the newspaper? Do they have the same discount code numbers that are listed on techbargins.com and bigbigsavings.com?

I'm curious because of my experience at the local B&M store. The manager wanted a printed coupon with the discount code (90416) on it. She later backed down and gave me the discount, but still, I'm wondering if printed coupons exist with that number on them, or if as the manager tried to tell me, those codes are meant for on-line orders only.

You say you get them mailed to you. How did you get on that mailing list?

Sounds like a decent deal. You made a good decision in taking the pricematch & calling back for the coupon. SOMEONE will give you the coupon, because I almost ALWAYS use both. She was giving you a run-around. AS far as the shipping goes, I don't know what west-tech charges. When they matched it for me, they didn't ask & didn't charge me anything. Staples policy is to add on whatever the stadard shipping charge would be(unless it is free). If the charges cannot be found, they are supposed to add a $5 flat fee.

EDIT: I just checked out West-tech.com. It would have cost $17 to have the card shipped to my zip code. I think you did ok with the $74(-$30) shipped for the 3000 model. I really lucked out that they didn't charge me.

Coupons come in emails gererally. Sometimes they are printed in newspapers & whatnot, but I have never tried to use them in a B&M. I think it is up to the individual managers as to whether or not they accept them in the B&M stores. I know the mangers at my local store are pricks, so I wouldn't even try.

So the "coupons" you get via email are just 5 digit numbers, not actual coupons (like you'd take to the grocery store) that have been clipped from a page, scanned, and sent to you in say, .jpg format, correct?

Staples pricematch policy is to include next-day air shipping in the pricematch. A CSR read this to me from their web page:
"When comparing catalog or Internet competitors prices, next day shipping and handling charges will be included in the price match analysis. The following is an example:"

http://staples.com/about/policy/protection/

Next day air is about $50 bringing the total to about $125. Not a hot deal at all :|!

Hard to argue with that!!

Bleed, where did you find out the shipping prices? Is it possible to use two coupons together? Because I think I seen one where it said "$10 off of $40" or something.

Bleeding, how was the packaging for your v3? Did you get a reciept or anything? Was there anything additional on the box (perhaps some staples stickers over the barcodes?)

So, if I called back and really complained, maybe they will give me shipping for free, or maybe for $5.

Based on my own recent experience I'd argue with it (see my victory post on page 1). They will attempt to add in overnight shipping, but if you hold your ground they will back down. From what I've read here, Bleeding Jawa has done this repeatedly deal with Customer Sales Reps over the phone.

YES!!! I JUST CALLED STAPLES AGAIN TO GET SOME MONEY BACK ON THE SHIPPING, BUT I DECIDED TO TRY ANOTHER COUPON!

SHE TOLD ME "OK, IT DOESN'T SAY HERE THAT YOU USED A COUPON, SO WHAT'S YOUR CODE?"

I GOT ONE OF THOSE $20 OFF OF $50 AND SHE GAVE IT TO ME!!!

I FIGURE WHAT HAPPENED WAS WHEN I GOT CREDITED BACK THOSE $25 YESTERDAY, SHE DIDN'T WRITE IT IN THE ORDER# ANYWHERE, BECAUSE SHE PERSONALLY JUST SAID THAT I WILL GIVE YOU $25 CREDIT TO YOUR CARD, NOT "I WILL DEDUCT $25 OFF OF THE INVOICE" SO YOU SEE, I WAS CREDITED, NOT DEDUCTED FROM.

MAKES ME WANT TO CALL A FEW MORE TIMES

THEN AGAIN, I DON'T WANT ANYONE CATCHING ON.

MY NEW BILL SHOULD READ

Here is a big tip, when ordering from staples, never, never, use your coupons on the order, because they write it down as little foot notes, only use it when you call back to find out the status of an order then use one, and they will just "manually override" the price, but not really write it anywhere, nor will it be seen anywhere when they ring up the order number.

Just tryin' to make this a hotter deal

I have had success in using coupons with pricematching. Take this for example. Last wekend or maybe the one before had great deals on HD's in the sunday papers. Well Best buy had a Maxtor 30gig 7200 rpm for 169.99 on sale. I went to a B&M Staples, pricematched it and use a coupon 30-150(if I had only know of the 40-150) to bring my price from 169.99 -139.9 + tax.
Now for the coupon I did this. I made an online account with Staples.com (you should use real info) and I had "purchased" their 187.99 HD using teh coupon. I went all the way until I got to the verify order screen(right before you enter CC number).
I then printed it out because the coupon is listed with the coupon code and the amount off. When u show them a piece of paper proving coupon they cant say S*** against it.
Put it this way, me and my friend did it at the same time, using same method and walked out with maxtor 30gigs for $139.99 plus tax.
To sum it up get a paper copy of coupon by placing an order on their website to prove coupon code.
that is my 2 cents

OK, I GOT MY PACKAGE NOW?!?!?! I JUST ORDERED IT YESTERDAY, APPARANTELY THE UPS STANDARD GROUND TAKES 1 DAY? MAYBE THAT'S WHY THEY CHARGED ME $14 INSTEAD OF $5.

TO THE GUY WHO SAID IT CAME IN A BIG BOX THAT WAS THE SIZE OF A TV: HOW DID YOU GET FREE SHIPPING?

me again, question, did the ups guy make you guys sign for your product?

and finally, did you guys recieve a recipt for your card? I just got a order # of the card and I didn't get any paper that said the price on it. I think that it's important for 3dfx to see the price and shipping dates.
