Voodoo 3 > GF4 4600

Got my new pny4600...

runs ut @ 800x600x32 at 65fps! w000t!

Only got ~80-100 with my v3 depending on the map.

GO $350!

Tho it does run at 335/740, and does q3@ 1600x1200x32 with 4xaa and 45fps, but it can't keep up with ut

ut2k3 demo better come out soon >:| noobs are beating me in ut, I know they suck, but htey have to know they suck... and the idea of them thinking they just beat me is drivng me nuts... gf4 sucks!

Are you using Direct3D or the latest OpenGL driver?

edit- if you're using Win2k or WinXP, Sunner would be right about the Vsync bug.

using d3d, winxp, no vsync problem... set at 85hz if i look at a wall it'll get up to 100 or so but wiht any people running on teh screen it drops to 60s

I only have a 1ghz tbird, I'm guessin thats the problem if anything, v3 was probably faster cause of glide... probably has less overhead or soemthing i dunno.

My daughters Ghz Duron with an MX 400 is getting 86 FPS at 1024x768 32 bit.
So you have the card set up wrong.

Nvidia cards do not like
In the BIOS:
Video shadowing needs to be off
Video Ram caching wastes cycles on the Nvidia card, the card's ram is faster than your system ram anyway.
AGP Aperature 64Mb or better 3DFx cards used 0

If you didnt do a complete reinstall of your OS ( yes format ) 3Dfx drivers are notorious for leaving registry keys that play havoc with Nvidia boards. ie slower framerates

In UT opengl is faster than D3D for Nvidia boards.

Try installing the latest OpenGL driver from here and install the textures from the second CD for some eyecandy. This OpenGL driver runs UT better than D3D does on my GF2 card. Hope it helps d00d

okay ogl owns d3d in ut, it feels waaaaay faster... didn't pay attention to my framerate but i wasn't feeling any slowdowns at all really.

One - remove any and all traces of 3dfx drivers in the registry.
Two - your card is definately capable of running MUCH higher than crappy 800x600 resolution. Bump it up.
If for some reason your monitor sucks and looks good only at 800x600 then be sure to turn on 4x AntiAliasing so it at least looks smooth and not blocky.

(Maybe it's already on, and that's why you only got 65pfs @ 800x600... that's not bad. Don't listen to BFG10k - 60+FPS is good.)

I've also notice that the 27.xx+ drivers suck in UT compared to 23.12. Atleast that's true on my Geforce3, it might be a different story on the Geforce 4. It's worth a try but first make sure you've got rid of everything that has to do with the voodoo card.

He saids its not a vsync problem. Also, if you pay 350 for a card you want the extra fps, even if its impossible to notice.
