VooDoo2 vs nVidia Vanta

Hi there,

I have an older PC with a voodoo2 12 meg video card in it. I also just got a new PC that came with an nVidia Vanta 16meg (I think) card in it. Both cards appear to work about the same but the Vanta card doesn't support lots of features in games that I run (EverQuest) such as gamma correction and seems to be just a cheapish video card that got put in the system.

I have never heard of the Vanta before. Can anyone compare the 2 cards real quick and let me know if it's better to take the V2 and 2d card out of my older system and swap them into my new system or are they pretty much the same.

Just looking for any general opinions or stats.

I'd say the V2 is much better...
the Vanta is a stripped down TNT, it has a
64bit Memory data path vs the TNT's 128bit
this castrates the poor thing...

Besides, the V2 is faster than the Vanta, and
if the "new" machine has a faster CPU you'll
see an improvement in game play....

hey man, voodoo2 is an add-on card why don't u just put it with your vanta, and then just select which card u want your games to use. and vatna is a tnt2 m64 chip for pci bus... it sucks

Like Stringy, I was under the impression that the Vanta is based off the TNT1, which would make the M64 a Vanta2?

The Vanta is still a TNT2 but with the 64-bit data path of an M64, clocked quite a bit lower. It's about the same performance, roughly, of the original TNT. Sure better than an 810 integrated video setup, and you can yank it out later, too.
