voodoo3 and winxp

Hey I was wondering, can I use a voodoo 3000 as a temp card in my system with winxp? Is there drivers I have to download or anything? I'm not going to do any gaming, I just need a vid card to use until my radeon 9700 gets in.

WinXP comes with some default drivers for the Voodoo3 series.

Yes, it does. But I never liked them while I was still using the Voodoo 3 in my second computer. They supported Direct3D but somehow OpenGL support was lost...and performance wasn't great. It'll work as a temporary thing, though, it worked temporarily for me for about 2 months.

Yeah a friend of mine has the V3 3000 and XP....he hasn't been able to play all the games he used to....the beta's mentioned may be able to help.

Same here on my Athlon 1600 with voodoo 4500 card. Got to voodoofiles.com for the latest drivers. Just keep in mind the beta drivers are not XP certified but they do work. They run much better then the certified XP drivers

Those drivers, at least for me, gave OpenGL support, but took away Direct3D support.

i'm not really concerned with playing games. I just wanted to it in and so i can install winxp and update everything, and then once my radeon 9500 comes in i'll put that in instead.

Well, it DOES work for that, Windows XP has its own driver, so you have nothing to worry about.
