Voodoo5500 vs GeForce 2 MX

What does the Voodoo5500 have over the GeForce 2 MX? A lot of people are saying to get the Voodoo5500 over the GeForce 2 MX if you can get the voodoo card for cheap ($140). Which card would be a better buy for the long run. Like if I plan to use it for gaming over a period of say.. two years?

And while I am at it (since I am new ot the PC world)....... what is the difference between Glide and the other drivers that the other cards use? Is buying a 3dfx card over an nvidia card just for the price inviting yourself into a world of hurt? Or does it depend on which games you play?

glide is an API that is supported by several popular new games (Unrael Tournament, Rune and Deux Ex), and a huge # of older games

the 5500 has EVERYTHING over the MX for gaming.

Ben will say different, but don't be fooled by 3dmark2000 scores. In gameplay, the 5500 smokes the MX.

Yep, I agree on the Voodoo5 5500. With the lower prices lately, it's really is a great card.

There is really no contest here: 5500

2 years from now is a long time, but even then the 5500 will probably be better, whether it will still be useful is a whole other subject.

Definitely the Voodoo 5. 3dfx have just released a new set of beta drivers for the card which offer huge performance gains in OpenGL thanks to HSR (hidden surface removeal).
