VOS32 hurt my c566???

well the global win VOS32 is a slot 1 heatsink and I've got a c2 566 on a abit slotlet, how do i attach it and could it break my baby

I don`t think you can install a slot 1 fan on a FC-PGA cpu! Even if it`s on a slocket.

If you're careful, you can use ZipTies to do this. At least, I've done it and it works great. You need to be very mindful of the pressure (need about 10-20lbs of it), and the contact between the heatsync and CPU. I only suggest this if you are patient and don't mind a broken CPU if you do it incorrectly :]

I did the same thing with my VOS32 and P3 600 on an Iwill Slocket-II. What I did was to use thin nylon string that I tied around the VOS32 and the slocket very tightly. Then I reattached the fans. I also included a 72W peltier in there, and it worked awesome.

I agree with JayPatel, don't do it,... just sell the VOS32 or trade it... and get yourself an Alpha PEP or a similar slocket compatible HSF

Tying stuff on is tacky and cheap. Just do as suggested and spend the money to do it right. You can sell your other cooler.

If you are looking for a new heatsink, look at the Globalwin FOP32 or FOP38. The FOP38 has a super high output fan that is very effective, but very loud. For the money, I think these are the best coolers. Of course, you could get the Alpha and spend another $10 for perhaps an exrta degree of cooling.

PS - While it might have been "tacky" to attach the VOS32 with nylon string, no one can see it in my case, and the Celeron 600 running at 1008MHz doesn't seem to mind. Creativity should not be limited by taste.

I agree with White Wisdom. Besides, I used Fluorescent Green zipties (around a Slotket), neatly trimmed, it glows in a blacklight, but I keep my case closed anyway. (On an "old" slot one board right before my cusl2). It's still being used to this day in my brother's system.

But again if you don't feel comfortable doing this, a Gorb is about $12.
