I would venture to guess that a majority (if not all) of his inventory is purchased through Dell Outlet, which carries the same warranty terms, conditions, etc. as purchased "new" through Dell. "New" from Dell Outlet carries the same connotation as "new" from Dell Direct, in that regard.

Those that have purchased through Dell Outlet before know there are some incredible deals available.

So just out of curiosity - what's the difference between Fred's and those available on Dell Outlet which are all labeled "refurbished"? It's not clear to me why Dell would go to the trouble to sell refurbished units directly but not unopened units.

i am guessing here so don't quote me. maybe a refurb is a unit with a bad piece of hardware that was returned by a single user.? and opened box is a returned but never used bulk purchase by a company. ?

what video card did you get? i picked up one with the 8600m gt w/256 mb ram

i just got done playing titan quest for about 3 hours and it defaulted to all high settings with no hickups. had to use an external usb mouse though. friggin touch pad is real sensitive. i loaded the AGV free version anti virus as that is the only thing it didn't come with. while i would not trade my gaming rig for it, it does everything i want real well.

so if i need to travel i won't be jonesing for some entertainment !!

Laptop came in today..

in a word.. WOW.

its identical to brand new.

Runs like a striped-assed ape and handles everything thrown at it so far.

My kids and i were having fun playing with the webcam.

wow.. just wow.. this laptop is awesome.

i got the 8600mgt 256, matte black finish, 2megapix webcam, and i agree WOW !! 9 cell batt, blue tooth, combo cd/dvd read write.

the only thing that would be better is a 7200 rpm hard drive ?. going to test burning some back up dvd's with the installed roxio software. i use oneclick dvd on my gaming rig so this will keep me from having to go to my man cave to make back ups.

i have not played with the camera yet but it sounds like they work good. later!
