I can not imagine why people in states that allow early voting, would not vote early?
I just watched the docu movie "UNCOUNTED: The New Math of American Elections 2008".
(Also available on netflix instant play)

After the nightmares in the 2000, 2004, and 2006 elections, early voting is the way to go. The ONLY way to go!
Anyone that could but does not vote early and then runs into problems at the polls on Nov 4th, well... they get what they deserve.
Since election day is not a national holiday giving people all the time to stand in lines and vote, the next thing is early voting.

And if you want to ague the merits, just watch the film UNCOUNTED: The New Math of American Elections. That should scare the early vote out of ya.

JUST DO IT!!!

You need to stand in line? Canada had an election about a week ago and I didn't need to stand in line. I should add that I live in a city with roughly 1 million people, so it's not some rural thing.

well, if it's in all caps it must be true

never been a fan of early voting myself, something just seems weird about forgoing the ritualistic tradition of the entire nation voting on a single day.

I mailed my absentee ballot out today. I'll be out of the country during the election so it was necessary this year. I'll probably continue to do it in the future though. Only costs a stamp and gives me the ability to research candidates/issues on the 'net.

Me and my wife already voted, absentee ballot, for VA.

For us there were only 4 things to vote for...
1. Prez
2. Senator
3. Congressman
4. $77m Bond for parks (Voted NO)

Doesn't seem like a very good reason to me.

I live in one of the really, really blue states. I don't have to worry about waiting in line or that my vote will count. They go bonkers at the polling place if anyone has to wait more than ten minutes, and if there is any problem with your registration you can choose who will help you get your vote in, the state rep, the Dem rep, the Republican rep or the Independent rep.

I never understood why voting days weren't on holidays. Wouldnt that be a way to get maximum voter participation?

Well, it was one of the lowest turnouts in history. I went during work hours (no work for me).

No need anymore with early voting, absentee voting, and vote-by-mail.

I'll be getting my ballot in the mail this week, and hand-delivering it back to the county elections office within a day.

All estimates are pointing to record voter turnouts (WA state expects 85%!!) but that's no excuse for not voting. GOTV!

I live in a rural area of Indiana, and we never get long lines at the polls. It usually takes no more than 10 minutes at the polls, and even if turn out will be higher this year, I am not worried.

But in Urban areas, I see the sense of this thread. Especially if the partisan officials of either party pulls a lot of monkey business challenging every voter, slowing the voting process to a crawl.

I just went ahead and scheduled to be off Nov 4th. Ever since joining ACORN they have been running me ragged and there is no way in hell I am going to try and squeeze in 25 votes after a long day at work.

And Canada has among the lower voter turnout rates of any country.

25? Is that all?

BTW, Can the punch card machines punch through a stack of 10 cards at once?
