VPN ports to open on my Linksys Router

What ports need to be opened if anyone can help.

1701 1723 and what.

None. Linksys router has VPN pass-through built in.

That would be where in the coniguration? I have the latest 1.37 firmware and see nothing about it. A call to Linksys gave me an answer that I thought I already know... "you have to forward ports to the computer, but I don't know which ones." Some tech support.

Unless you want to have VPN server behind your router you don't have to do port forwarding. Linksys router has PPTP pass through built-in. That means you can have VPN (PPTP) client(s) behind router to connect VPN server through the internet. But if you want to setup your VPN server you need to do port forwarding. You need to find the actually port from your VPN server software. Port 1723 is for Microsoft VPN Server.

Actually port 1723 is for PPTP. but you also need to let through GRE Protocol 47. If u decide to use L2TP, u'll need to forward UDP Port 1701

How would I forward GRE 47?

I've never set up a linksys but I've never heard of something particular needed to be done for GRE unless the ISP is blocking it.
