VPN router configuration

I have just flashed a Linksys e4200 router with AdvancedTomato in order to install my vpn on the router. One of the main reasons for doing this is to access US Netflix and AmazonPrime videos outside the US. I have fiber and my ISP provides a Tilgin wireless router (I've no idea about the chip inside or the quality of the router) 'for free'.

My hope was to connect my Roku to the Linksys (VPN) router but have the Tilgin router for everyday stuff. That is I would have one router with a US IP address and the other with our ISP ip address. The Tilgin was connected to the fiber modem via ethernet cable and I connected the Linksys (VPN) router to the Tilgin with another ethernet cable hoping to piggy back but kept getting ip address and submask address conflict errors. The Linksys (VPN) router was not able to connect to the internet when going through the Tilgin.

I then connected the Linksys (VPN) router to the fiber modem and got internet through it. I connected the Tilgin router to the Linksys (VPN) router via ethernet and could connect to the internet as well but checking the ip addresses on both routers showed they were both on the vpn.

My fiber modem has I think (it's hard to see as it's attached to the wall and close to a corner) an internet port and four WAN ports.

Is there a way to hook up the two routers to the modem so that the Linksys (VPN) router provides a US ip and the Tilgin provides my normal ip address?

Also I've also noticed that my speed took a big hit when going through the vpn on the router. My speed normally is 80 Mbps down and 70 up but when going through the Linksys (VPN) router its 4Mbps up and down. When I run the vpn through my computer and turn the vpn off on the router I get 15-20 Mbps down and 10 up. Does anyone have tips on how to improve this?

You need to configure something called split tunneling to achieve what you want.

You need to find out what Netflix & Amazon's servers' IP ranges are and configure it.

Those IP range can change from time to time. It's not easy.

Easier way is find a VPN provider whose VPN software offer split tunning

Combing (cascading) multiple routers won't give you the ability to split traffic to different tunnels.

It only create double NAT and slows you down.

If you insist to use 2 routers, then turn Tilgen router into access point and uplink one of it's LAN port (not WAN) to Linksys.

VPN slows down traffic a lot, no question, because it encrypts all the traffic.
