I also ordered on 2/5. I also got another order confirmation email. The confirmation I received today still shows the order date as 2/5. I'm hoping since my status changed from On Order to Backordered, then back to On Order, that they are actually gonna try to ship these out to us. I emailed vprMatrix directly and asked if they are still manufacturing this model, but I have yet to receive a response. Keeping my fingers crossed!!

Thanks....as a coincidence, I just got done reading that from the thread over at FW. If I actually get one of these I guess I will be buying an extended warranty to cover my @ss!!! It seems that folks who ordered 4-6 days after I did are still getting confirmations as well....not sure what to think. Losing all desire to shop at BestBuy anymore.

I'm new here so be nice. Just wanted to tell you guys my story since I've received so much good advice from Anandtech.

On Sunday, I went into BB to use the kiosk to purchase a 180B5 ($999.99 before $100 MIR). While I was there, I found out that BB was offering a 24-month interest free financing. So, I signed up for that and provided them with my details. I got approved. Next, I proceeded to place an order for a 180B5. The CSR convinced me to get the PSP as well so I did (don't blame me - if VPR went out of business, I want to make sure that BB will cover my laptop).

On Tuesday, I got an email saying my order was cancelled so I called the 1-800-BB number. They told me that somebody called me on my homephone (they didn't leave a voice message or anything) and couldn't get hold off me so they cancelled my order. They said that my delivery address and my billing address was different so they had to call to confirm. Since they couldn't get hold of me, they cancelled my order. So I asked who did that. At first, they said it was the BB credit card bank. I called them, and they said it was BB.com that did that. When I ask what can be done, they said nothing since the item is no longer available.

Conclusion: I have no laptop and I have to make a trip to BB to get my money back on the PSP.
Lesson: Should have used my cell number instead.

Irony: What happens if all you have is your home number and you went to the john? OR you went for groceries?

I hope this might clear some air about why some of the orders were cancelled.

WTF, i found the very last VPR 180B in my area and they're charging $1149 for it and it's OPENED BOX TOO!!! WTF?!?!?!?!

Can anyone confirm the price of it?

Well......it looks like some of us may actually be getting these after all..............

Here is the response I received from the email I sent directly to vprMatrix, I asked if they were still manufacturing these (180B5) notebooks:

Thanks for your email.

Our older notebooks, 170B4 and 180B5, are indeed being discontinued. Our line now consists of all widescreen products, due to their very positive reception in the marketplace.

Just this week Best Buy received its last shipment of the 180B5, so I expect that it will be sold out very quickly.

Picked one up (170b4) it was open item was a return its like new all tickers on and upc still in place. rung up at 749.99 since open Item got them to sell it to me for 649.60 plus the 100 rebate printed $550 hell of a deal!!

you only need the receipt and your credit card to do a paper exchange

Also I got my adaptor from the service today. Inside is a note saying I need to ship my old adaptor back. But I will see what they can do about that.

It's a high quality notebook, and the parts are replaceable by Samsung if you are tech-savvy... Anyway, the first year is covered by the manufacturers warranty and the second year is covered by my Amex card so I don't need the warranty...

Hmmm, this deal is not as hot as I thought... Somehow I had the idea that the laptops were $849 for the 180B5 and $711 for the 170B4. I know I paid $711 for my brand new sealed 170B4 plus $100 rebate for $611.... Now I am seeing that BB is selling the 180B5 for $949 and $999!!! Considering that's almost $1100 shipped with tax this deal has cooled off quite a bit... It's still pretty hot, but not sizzling anymore... The $100 rebate will help get the cost just under $1000, makes it hot, but not sizzling...

can we buy it online and get extended warranty at store without doing a return and rebuy? I placed order on 2/6 so I can use the 200 online rebate...
