I just sold my 170B4 on Ebay for $900...I could have gotten $1000 for it if I had tried a little harder.

Just got off the phone with BB csr....the final price for me will be $948.99, the credit was kinda already in the works...if your situation is like mine or sussig, and you have a cancelled order showing the $948.99 make sure you call and get your credit!!!

I also purchased mine on Amex...extends the warranty one year. Do we have to call Amex and do anything in particular to activate the extended coverage? I may call Amex and ask a bunch of questions...depending on the answers I may purchase BB protection plan. I believe you have 30 days to buy the warranty??

It would be nice to have a place where we can have a thread about these particular notebooks to help each other out, as was previously suggested....

MAY...i think we could just call BB and ask to purchase one over the phone. I find it intersesting that I have not had any csr mention the 3 year plan yet. Maybe we will start getting emails???

It is time to call BB and get my $50 back! and I'll try to see if they can sell the warranty to me. Considering Vpr Matrix is dieing and I'll probably go through a few batteries within 3 years, it may be worth $200.

I also charged it on my Amex, but I am keeping the $200 warranty. From what I read in the internet, there is alot to do to get your laptop repair under Amex double warranty coverage and the whole process can be short (like Bestbuy warranty) or can be very long... plus you might have to pay shipping yourself. Battery and dead pixels not cover at all through Amex.

Now I am thinking $130 for new battery (if you run on battery alot, the battery will lose it's life after a year or so), the extra convience of just droping off at any Bestbuy, easier and faster warranty repair and no calling around or paper faxing or mailing through Amex, a bit more coverage against wear and tear, and easier to sell this 2 years from now with the warranty still attached, then the $200 make alot of sense to me anyway.

Super kewl...sorry I spelled your name wrong in earlier post. I am obviously hyper excited!!! I have been looking for the perfect laptop for 6+ months and have let several good deals go without biting....very excited!!!

Another bonus for me...I took the free ground shipping option. When I went to UPS and checked tracking number, I discovered it is shipping from within the same state (Ohio) and will be here tomorrow (called and confirmed)!!!!!!

Are there such things a "universal" notebook batteries?

Anything I've ever bought from BB they said you have 14 days to return the warranty, but if you leave the store they said you can't buy it afterwards.

I did some research.

Basically, you cannot burn bin/cue's with this drive in Nero or CDRWIN

found out the hard way through about 10 coasters

I did get it to work in Fireburner.

However, you have to change the burning options from session-at-once (SAO) to disk-at-once (DAO)

I used DAO96 and it worked fine.

This is baffling because Nero and CDRWIN use DAO by defualt..

Well, at least I got it to work

EDIT: I didn't realize DOA96 was an option in Nero [as opposed to DAO (/b].k.a. DAO16)]. Bin/cue burning also
works in Nero when enabling DOA96
CDRWIN doesn't differentiate between the two, so I can't get it to work

EDIT (AGAIN): OK, I got CDRWIN working by burning in RAW mode. So, with a little tweaking, this burner will
work with all of them

Is the 512 mb memory in 1 stick, or is this 2 x 256? Might upgrade to a gig!!!

From Crucial configurator:

System: vpr Matrix Series Notebooks

These 200-pin SODIMM modules are compatible with your vpr Matrix Series Notebooks Help Me Choose

Module Size Price (ea.) Qty. Order Part No. Part Details
512MB $150.99 CT269074 ? DDR PC2100 ? CL=2.5 ? Non-parity ?
256MB $49.99 CT269075 ? DDR PC2100 ? CL=2.5 ? Non-parity ?
128MB $26.99 CT269076 ? DDR PC2100 ? CL=2.5 ? Non-parity ?
All prices shown in US dollars.

That is quite a price jump from 256--->>>512!!! Maybe Staples or someone else can do better?

I got mine via UPS today!!!! I can't believe this deal actually went through...now I just gotta hope the $200 rebate goes through BTW, I got mine up and running on my wireless network, and it works great! The wireless card in it is an Orinoco card that supports 128-bit WEP.

Well I didn't get in on this but I did see the ones that just came out. Damn, they are some kind of sexeh! They had SW: EP2 AOTC playing one both models and it looked mighty fine on the Wide Screen LCDs. Too bad they are so expensive.

B5 is available "on order" again at $999 - $200 rebates = $799!

For those who bought instore in last 14 days... goto store and do a rebuy... $200 rebates print out for both B4 & B5... today only.

EDIT: OOS again.

Just received my 180B5 laptop, 3 days late due to snow

I dont think this has been mentioned, but the built-in wireless Mini PCI card is made by Orinoco!
