It will be a long time I bet before we see next gen Vulkan games.
Could we see a Vulkan game released before a DX12 Game?
Intel/AMD/nVidia should have drivers on day one and if that's the case I could see Valve announce Dota2 Vulkan support on day one too.
Could we see a Vulkan game released before a DX12 Game?
No. We haven't even gotten our hands on a Vulkan tech demo yet, while DX12 games are deep in development.
I smell a rat...
What was the original release date for Vulkan?
Since it was something that amd was supposedly going to have an advantage in. I was expecting a delay. Sad, but true.

He is president for 14 years and leads the OpenCL group. If you believe in some kind of conspiracy OpenCL should be dead but it's in full development.
The Khronos group is not known for delivering on time. That's the issue of a consortium with more than 120 members.
Lol. Yeah, its delayed because of AMD, not because it's a massive consortium of huge technology leading companies with diverging agendas and interests that have to be unified.
Wow, the amount of cluelessness is staggering. Go ahead and try and coordinate dozens of major (multi-billion dollar) enterprises and see how fast that goes. Just stop. The article literally calls out legal review as an issue. It's bureaucracy, which moves slow. Protip: coordinating multi billion dollar enterprises is done by people who make many hundreds of dollars an hour in consulting fees. It's complicated. But of course forum goers with no perspective on the real world smash all this detail into a teeny-tiny box of "amd vs. nvidia" Every. Single. Time.
Just consider, PERHAPS, that this has nothing to do with the ever-favorite "AMD VS NVIDIA VS INTEL" garbage and has everything to do with how extraordinarily complex the business and technology concerns are in designing a low level graphics API that meets as many needs in the entire world (the target market) as possible. Because designing an cutting edge API to be consumed by everyone in the entire graphics and low level computing industry, with all of them having a right to provide commentary and input, is easy and fast.
Woof. Such anger. The reason I laughed at this comment was I interpretted as "this was suppose to benefit AMD, of course it's delayed." Simple as that. Not even AMD's fault, but more so AMD has bad luck.
Oh well.
I had a chuckle at his comment. It has more to do with AMD being incompetent than Nvidia money hatting.

More to do with AMD being too broke to pay developers to work on it, you mean.
DX 12 has some basis on Mantle and they did on time.Lol. Yeah, its delayed because of AMD, not because it's a massive consortium of huge technology leading companies with diverging agendas and interests that have to be unified.

-There were a number of threads/posts on here recently arguing the topic of "AMD/Open Source/DOA" and this is kind of what they were talking about.
Your quote above is exemplary of this issue. While AMD works "the bureaucracy", NV pushes its closely held closed tech to market and makes money hand over fist.
And before everyone starts shrieking fanboy, please note the card in my sig (and the 7870 XT in my wife's rig). Some AMD guys are tired of AMD trying to be everything to everyone and just want AMD to deliver for the people who bought their damn cards.
Where exactly are you expecting Vulcan games, may I ask? Vulcan is simply a newer version of OpenGL.At least it's good to see they are at least working on it. It will be a long time I bet before we see next gen Vulkan games.
OpenGL is largely dead on Windows and Vulcan isn't going to change that no matter how delusional some get. And Linux/MacOS/Android are virtually irrelevant to AMD/nVidia in terms of market share and sales.
