I still would'nt buy an older Eclipse. They are notorious for having problems. But to each his own I guess. Congrats.

If you like the car, then buy it. But personally, I wouldn't pay more than 4-5k for a 2nd gen GS. As others have said, if you are looking for reliability, you might try looking elsewhere. However, the NT models are quite a bit more reliable than the turbo models. Then again, NT's are about 1/10th the fun of their turbo counterparts.

I have a 98 Spyder GST and it is pretty much the definition of a money pit. But you have to come to expect that if you are going to modify a car. The last couple years, I have spent 6-7k on repairs/maintenance alone. So if you can't afford to pay for repairs, then don't get yourself in debt paying for the car itself.

I finally get a newer car this summer.

A 2003 GranAm SE with the 2.2L ecotec and sport suspension. Will have a CAI, Magnaflow, and Strut braces the day i get it!

Will be fun, be clean and not riced but definatly a head turner (With my Plans).

Old Hondas look fugly, but with some hawt nonricer upgrades (ie bodykit, etc), it should be looking sexy. They're also very reliable.
