24 inches of goodness I chose Samsung over Dell because as a company I trust Samsung much more than Dell. I also prefer Samsung's looks to Dell, even though I could've gotten the Dell for $100 less.

w00t.

Edit: doesn't matter who manufactured Dell's LCD, I trust the Samsung company more than Dell and I am loyal to Samsung =)

I tried out a Samsung 203B for a few weeks now. 20.1"... not a bad monitor for the price ($258 CDN+tax @ Costco) but I don't like the way DVDs look... a bit grainy. Great for text and games, but I'm going to return it and get a Dell. It was decent to use for a while though

edit: oh yeah congrats on your purchase

Thanks I'll use it for web programming mostly. I play my games on my consoles, and watch DVDs on a 42" Plasma so this monitor will serve me well with a huge desktop space.

God, so excited. I chose Next-day Air... so it should be here on Wednesday as today is President's Day and I don't think UPS would work?

I do realize that but I guess what I mean is I trust Samsung much more than Dell as a company. Dell warranty procedures are also hellish... =)

I like it, great scree for the price. But if you play games you might want something with a faster refresh.

UPS has been by twice today and the city is mostly shutdown for mardi gras. It could well show up tomorrow.

My Dell LCD has been great. (And I'd never seriously consider buying a Dell PC)

I'm wanting to upgrade my 19" Trinitron CRT to an LCD soon, and am trying to decide between 22" and 24"... It seems like those extra 2 inches cost about 40% extra, making 24" a not-so-sweet buy for the money. I like the idea of being able to watch 1080i footage without downsampling, though, as I don't have any other way to view 1080i footage. The main reason I'm wanting native 1080i is I'm hoping to get an HDV camera in a year or so. Should I get a 22" now, and resell it and buy a better 24" a year from now, or spring for the 24" now?

Also, coming from 1280x960 on a 19" CRT, how would effective DPI compare with 1920x1280 on a 24" screen? Text is probably going to look a bit smaller, right?

Just purchased my first one too. Only a 19" wide, but it will only be $110 or so AR.

Didnt even know Samsung had a 24", must be out of the loop.

I'd love to get a 24" LCD but it's still too pricey for me. I'm going to ditch my 19" Dell LCD and get a 22" for now.

Sorry to hear that. I went from a gorgeous Sony CRT to an LCD and I know how depressing it can be. Hang in there buddy, OLED is coming!

me: hello dell, my 24" lcd died, here's the service tag number XXXX

dell: thank you sir, I see that it's still under the 3 year warranty, let's go through some troubleshooting techniques. I want you to power down the monitor, hold the power button down as you turn it on.

me: I can't it won't turn on, it's completely dead.

dell: ok sir, I am sending you a replacement monitor over night. is there anything else I can do for you?

me: no, thanks, have a good one.

dell: you too.

I just picked up a 24" lcd panel last week to replace my aging 19" crt. I got the Gateway from Best Buy because the price was good and with Best Buy I get a no hassle, no dead pixel return policy. This LCD panel is a space heater, though, rated at the same wattage as my old CRT.

Price-wise, yeah you can buy 2 22" widescreens for less than 1 24" widescreen, but I needed the space for work and I just do not like dual monitor setups. It's been well worth the extra $$ for me.

The pixels will be about 50% bigger on the 24" lcd than a 19" crt @ 1280x960, assuming 18" viewable (I did these calculations before I switched monitors).

I've never understood brand loyalty, but hey, tell yourself whatever you need to to justify your purchase.

I considered the Dell, Gateway and Samsung 24" for a while but decided in the end to buy the BenQ FP241W to replace my Samsung 900NF CRT (which I sold yesterday for $50).

I just purchased my tenth!

Now I have to figure out how to fit 7 LCDs on my desk.
