Question W10 Pro No Taskbar/Slow Boot Time

Recently my PC took a windows security update, that started causing issues with startup times. I boot from NVME, and times were in excess of 2+ minutes to get into windows. The issues began getting worse, windows would boot, but the taskbar would be blank, and if you hover the mouse over it, it would give the loading icon. Sometimes it would take roughly 5 minutes to get the taskbar to open. I did everything that I could think of, and eventually just backed up my personal files, and did a complete wipe, and full windows 10 install fresh from a USB stick. Once I got up and running, things were fine for a few hours, then a windows update installed, and I am back to the same issue. Anyone have and suggestions, specs are as follows. Gigabyte B550i AC, Ryzen 5600x, 32gb DDR4 @3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3080. OS is on an Intel 660P 1TB, and my storage drive is a 1TB Evo 840. Im at a loss, I even disabled windows defender by using Malwarebytes premium.

You could run a utility like CrystalDiskInfo to see if one of your SSDs is beginning to have issues. The issues you described could be a result of that.

Both of my SSDs show good health, no errors.

Are you able to ID the particular update ? I would search on it to see whether others have found a similar issue and a solution. If you have cause to reinstall again I would disconnect the data drive first. If nothing else works then I would call MS tech support about the problem update.I have had success working with 2nd and 3rd level techs there and found configurations in this system which stymied an install.

Were it my system, I'd run some system stability tests like Prime95 and MEMTEST86+/Windows Memory Diagnostic (presuming you haven't already done it). This kind of hanging can be a symptom of a piece of marginal system hardware.

You might also (if you can get it to run) try checking the Windows Reliability History for issues. Are there any recurring errors in the Windows system log?

Well, after endless hours of research, and troubleshooting. I bought a new SSD complete windows re installed for the 3rd time. Problem persist. Last ditch effort, I started unplugging peripherals and it was my new Razer TKL keyboard causing the issue. So, I guess it just doesnt jive with my setup. Sucks, I have a razer wireless mouse, and all is well there.

That's an odd one that I would have never guessed.

I guess there's always a first time seeing something new. I wonder if the keyboard is defective in some way (maybe an internal contact is constantly in the "on" position)? Have you tried with a different PC at all?

From what I found, the keyboard is prone to this when plugged into a USB Hub. So I might try it on another PC.

Is it a powered USB hub or unpowered hub? If it is an unpowered hub, switching to a powered hub might make it work properly.
