W2K Home network trouble

I have two W2K machines on an office lan. Both are connected to an SMC router/hub to share internet...
Internet works fine on both machines. I have the network settings the same on both machines, however, machine #1 can see shared folders on machine #2, but #2 cannot see shared folders on #1. I can see both computers on the network from both #1 and #2.

One difference I did find was that
#2's shares show the following: ADMIN$, C$, IPC$, shared folder
#1's shares show the following: shared folder

Is there a service running on #2 that is not running on #1 and how do I determine that?

Any advice much appreciated.

Here is the error I am getting when I click on computer #1 (from computer #2) under "computers near me":

\\computer #1 is not accessible.

Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.


As I said before, when I try to access computer #2 from computer #1, everything works fine.

I'm guessing you need to make the user on computer 2 an admin on computer 1.

Thanks. I tried it to no avail. I get the same error. I think it has something to do with the difference in the default shares of each machine as I described above. Do you happen to know how these shares are set up? (ie IPC$, C$, and ADMIN$)

The shares that end with $ are admin shares which only an administrator can access. Is the account you are using to access the share an administrator on #2? You need to use an administrator account that actually resides on #2, not just one that resides on #1 that has the same name because they are not the same account.
