That is a damn good deal. The graphire tablet alone goes for $100, and the Painter program is usually like $200 or so I believe... not only that but you get the Spiderman DVD for free also!

Nice deal, I used both of them in my undergrad. Painter 7 is by far (in my opinion of course) a better program to use the tablet with, compared to Photoshop and Corel. But remember that the pad is only (I think) 5x7, where as I used the bigger version.

THANK YOU .PALDO!!! I've wanted this tablet for awhile, and I absolutely love Corel software (CorelDraw is so much easier to learn/use than Illustrator/Freehand!)

uncJIGGA....Mind you that this program is not like Corel DRAW, this program was bought by Corel and was owned by three different companies in the past couple years. I believe that Fractal owned it first, because I used to use version 4.5 about 6 years back. It is pretty easy to use and is used in most intro college courses. I can make Cezanne replicias in minutes with this programs. Good Luck!

The Graphire used to sell for $100 or less with Painter Classic (version 5, I think, before Corel took over) included. If version 7 is that much better, it might be worth paying $50 more.

Yeah, I figured it was Fractal Design Painter renamed (lol, they used to sell the software in a box that was like a tin of paint!) Still a good program though. I remember how the menus and interface used to mimic a painter's wooden drawers...kinda kitschy but cool. You're right that its not like CorelDraw...Corel is pure vector whereas this is pseudo-vector, pseudo-bitmap. All-in-all its software that was meant to be used with a tablet!

since you want to use it with photoshop, the money for the other program is a waste, unless you can get a good price for it on ebay. i have a wacom 12" x 12" and all i ever use is 4" x 5". thats all you need for drawing and airbrushing. you could go to 6" x 9" if you want a bigger one. if i could get a good chunk of change i would ebay it, but i probably wouldn't get more than to replace it with a new small one, and this baby cost me $450 when i bought it in 1997.

once you get used to it you sure won't want to go back to a stinking mouse for photoshop or any other image program. it rocks.

The graphire is kinda a small model, with half the sensitivity of the intuos line. It's got 512 pressure levels, which is the same as pro models just a couple years ago. Most of my artist friends who use wacom tablets prefer the 6x9 and 9x12 because they match the aspect of the monitor, and you can map the corners of your tablet to the corners of the screen, which makes navigation a breeze, and they use the entire tablet. IMO, the only thing the graphire2 is missing is the multibutton stylus, and macro buttons. The size issue is probably something you could work around. My advice: find a friend that qualifies for the Employee Purchase Program pricing (afaik, employees of Wacom and Apple), because they can get you 45% off retail

Oh, to be on topic: Painter AND a graphire for $150? Smashing deal!

You can manage with the small size, i have a graphire (not graphire 2) that has the small 4x5 pad and works fine, woulnd't mind something a bit bigger, but i got mine for 15 bucks, so im not complaining

very nice deal.

of course that thing is pretty darn small (active area wise)... imo the intuos 9"x12" is where it's at

I play with Photoshop quite a bit (since version 3) just for fun. I picked up a small Wacom tablet several years ago, but after I started using multi-monitors to get the real estate for my images and all the tools, the tablet was tough to deal with due to the new wide aspect ratio.
