Then avoid restaurants where you see kids. The parents with kids have no obligation to do what you think they should do.

I do. Typically sticking to restaurants that don't have kids menus dissuades people from bringing the little monsters around. Because, you know, peoples' little angels won't eat anything but chicken nuggets, which is a pretty good sign that they should either eat at McDonalds or at home.

Good for the waiter. Hope that the giant douche of a customer gets ass raped by a gorilla

I hate being around any kids in restaurants. I can only imagine how disruptive a "special" kid would be in a nice restaurant.

Special or not. Taking your dirty ass little kids to a restaurant that isn't McDonalds or Chuck E Cheese-class places should be avoided.

No one wants to be around your stupid little kids.

So I go out to a place to enjoy myself, and part of that enjoyment is not to be around loud/disruptive, or possibly disruptive kids.

Not knowing if this kid is an angel, or "angel" in the eyes of the parents, I make my wish not to be seated next to them, and I'm the bad guy?

Why is the waiter refusing bushiness for the owner? He could have sat the guy somewhere else. And if he didn't want to serve them, find someone else.

Lots of assholes in this thread.

after reading more of the story. Perfect example of PC group think.

The kid was being 'discriminated' against. LOL.

Kudo's to the waiter.

To the others in this thread who don't agree. HAH HAH, eat at home together if you don't want to be around kids. No one wants you around their kids anyways.

Exactly this. People have to be taught to socialize. Unfortunately, many children are not and, as a result, we now have many 'adults' who have no idea how to behave or, even see the necessity for it. Notice, I said "behave" which has nothing to do with what you think or believe.

Yes, and when I did not behave I was sent out to the car or we left. Didn't take many experiences of leaving a restaurant hungry (or Disneyland after 2 rides) before my sister and I wised up.

are you fucking serious?

I actually 'shared a booth' with a 'special' kid yesterday, he was seated behind me sharing the same booth bench piece, and besides him talking a bit loud, likely due to his diability making speech tough for him, he was just fine to be about 12 inches from.

Much better than many 'adults' I've been seated near.

I don't have kids, and guess what, if I dont want to bear around them, I stay the fuck home. not go to restaraunts and bitch that other people take their kids out in public

no one makes you go out in public.

bigot just learned what the 'right to refuse service to anyone' means

For my birthday & special occasions. They were sticklers about etiquette and manners around the house though. I was a pretty well behaved kid. Still, for their birthdays & special occasions they'd always leave my brother and I at home so they could go somewhere nice.

There are tons of poorly behaved kids in public nowadays. Running laps around the restaurant screaming, throwing things, etc. And the parents look at you and shrug like, "what can I do?" :|

He should have just asked to move throwing in that extra comment was unnecessary.

There are plenty of places to go in most cities that don't have any kids. Like I said before, a lack of a kid's menu usually deters them. A strong focus on alcohol does it too. Then there's the fact that the 25-40 crowd has fewer kids and more childless people today than ever before, and there's usually plenty of places where kids are looked at with disdain in every major city.

FYI, the website header is Laurenzo's Family Restaurant.

So those trying to argue that kids need to stay at Chuck E Cheese or McDonald's don't really have a solid argument.

As a child, EVERY time I went with my parents to the store, church, park, library, fair, movies, theater, museum (well, you get the idea) I got the 'talk.' The talk consisted of my mother telling me how she expected me to behave and the consequences of misbehaving. There are "tons of poorly behaved kids in public now" and as many adults. I too hope the customer making the comment has learned from all the social media coverage to change his behavior.

I don't like being around children in restaurants or stores. I don't care whats wrong with them, most of the time....they are acting up and their parents don't know how to deal. There have been many times in public where a child was cutting up and the parent just let them...kids running around, screaming and crying for something. The parents do nothing.

Whenever my mother took us somewhere, she always turned around in the car and looked back at us to say 1) Don't ask for anything 2) Don't touch anything 3)Don't talk to strangers and 4) If you do what I tell you do, I will take you out to eat later.

If we did act up....well......

yes, I get this. But because some parents are terrible (there have always been terrible parents, and I'd wager that it hasn't become that much worse), doesn't mean that kids should never be brought into restaurants.

So, making an insensitive remark is a punishable offense in that place, even if it doesn't effect other patrons?

I don't see it as the server's job to judge and punish people for their views when it is not disruptive to others. It doesn't seem that the guy even used any crude terms in reference to the kid.

I'm not defending what the guy said, but I think the server was out of line.

It's call morals, principles, decency and sticking to them. You may lack one, or all 3.

I think I would have said "we don't serve douchebags, they should go be douchy somewhere else"

Eh, I dislike all kids. Even the best of them tend to be annoying and overly touchy.
