Looks like there’s an RX 56 gigabyte model on Newegg for $405 after rebate

Edit - never mind sold out

Just snagged the 56 for a hair over MSRP. If you're in the UK and eyeing up a Vega, both Overclockers and Scan have them 'discounted' at the moment, apparently this is a fresh round of rebates from AMD and these relatively sane prices won't be staying long.

Seems the game deal bundle has been nixed in the bargain as well, ironically I was interested in it but given my game backlog I'll probably be picking up Prey/Wolfenstein for virtually nothing by the time I would get round to playing them so no big loss.

Now, I must pray to the silicon gods for luck in the upcoming lottery. Get your undervolt on!
Back at launch day I got my 64 and 56 well below 1080 and 1070 prices. Fine offers. Since then prices have gone up and been way to expensive imo. Just don't buy then. Then they can keep their silicon.

Man I just hate that proprietary g synch development. To hell with you Nvidia forcing that crap on us. Trying to decide what monitor I should buy. Typical for business these days. Always try to transform their simple product to a platform for something else. And for a simple product like gpu? Make something worthwhile like steam if you want to be a real platform.

I recently started a new job and they gave me an iPhone. I was expecting it to have a micro usb port for charging\connecting to a pc. Nope. It's apple so it has a proprietary connector\charger.

But at least you can buy an adapter!

Couple years ago (2014) the EU with great fanfare announced they will require all manufacturers to align on 1 port and everything else will be banned. This should have happened in 2017. It didn't. They quietly pulled-back. (Probably bribed by Apple)

I can? Awesome. The cables are 30 bucks.

Generic Amazon-branded cables are around $7, and MFI certified.

Back on topic, still waiting to see custom Vega cards...

Slickdeals has an RX 56 for $400! Pretty nice!

There's an XFX Vega 56 at Amazon for $400 since yesterday from a third party seller (no tax in CA, free shipping). I have been waiting for custom Vega 56 for a while, but this price was quite tempting and I almost bought it before I noticed that it doesn't have a DVI port. I have one of those old Korean 1440p monitors that can run at 120Hz.

Hopefully the custom Vega 56 won't be too far out, especially now that 1070Ti has shown up.

It's still good to see reference Vega 56 stock situation getting better over past few days.

From an American standpoint the EU has balls that have dropped (literally the terminology used by an analyst on Bloomberg I died) when it comes to policing companies.

Now that you bring it up, if we are really pissed we just need to focus on petitioning in the EU for behavior reform. At least we have a chance at getting what we want there and having it extrapolate to be the company wide practice.

XFX Vega spotted. Looks interesting, thought to be the 56 based on the 8+6 power pins. Interesting tidbits from the article author in the comments:

I spoke with other board partner today, they said they have no GPUs from AMD and they have no idea why AMD is not providing them.

Rumor has it, ASUS had some kind of a deal with AMD, that's how they first received GPUs for STRIX Vega.

Given that the Strix Vega is conspicuously absent, if this is true there must be very serious supply problems if even a preferred partner is left out in the cold by AMD. I'm going back over the rumors: Yield problems, different die heights, HBM problems, low or nonexistent margins, high variance in clock/voltage tolerance....all while the partners are left clueless nevermind the consumer. I think it's very possible the AIBs are outright cancelled until the 12nm refresh.

I seen it noted that while ASUS still has their web page up for the Strix the clock speed information has been removed. Remember for a while the clocks were to be confirmed, now they're apparently up in the air again? If the card is even going to show at all....

Sapphire Vega 64 Nitro spotted. Triple slot monster. I'm a little shocked that they went with the full board PCB instead of the nano board with overhung hsf. Clearly the Fury design was the best cooler design to date. Either way, if we are seeing XFX and now Sapphire cards we are finally closing in on retail release of AIB cards.

Well if they're going to (over)clock it even higher than the default 64 model they'll need those......

Vega is in no way power limited. buildzoid put gobs of power into it and it took it no problem. The only issue is that power in didn't equal perf out.

I would be very surprised if any Vega has DVI on it.

Explains why monitors no longer ship with DVI cables... I didn't think it was that long ago. My AMD cards up until maybe R9 200 series had DVI... I think.

You know, I bet the AIBs are pretty pissed off to have to wait until early December to get some cards out.
Think of all those lost sales because people didn't want blower cards, and jumped shipped.

Several custom Polaris cards came with DVI-D. I have an 8GB RX 470 (Sapphire Nitro) from last year with a DVI connection. Hopefully some Vega 56 variant will have it too.

I do plan to upgrade monitor soon, but am waiting for a good 32-34" 4k or 3440x1440 monitor with proper HDR support/BT 2020 color space and with max adaptive sync rate of 100Hz or more. Until such display comes out, the 27" 2560x1440 @120Hz PVA monitor (with only a DVI port) has to do the job.

I don't think it really matters. A lot of the people who gave up on Vega probably went out and bought a similarly priced GeForce, most likely sold by one of the same AIB manufacturers. It isn't that people suddenly decided not to buy something at all, and at best they only pushed off a purchase for a few months. Even if someone didn't buy Vega and had decided to wait, it just means that they'll buy a Pascal or Navi GPU when those come out that they wouldn't have otherwise purchased if they bought now.

I really think that AMD needs to have their drivers figured out before they let the third party manufacturers ship or there isn't a lot of reason to prefer the custom designs over the reference model because I don't think there's a lot of headroom right now. If the AIB launches coincide with a bid driver release that adds ~10% performance, it's almost like a second launch and a lot of people will be more impulsive.
