Since my fiancee and I have begun to make a good wad of cash, we decided to trade in my 2004 mustang gt and purchase a 2014 subaru wrx. Which, for some strange reason, cost us about 3k LESS than buying a 2013 wrx off the lot.

Salesmen says 4-8 weeks until deliver. Does anyone really know how accurate these estimations are?

Anyone have any weird occurrences when your car finally arrived and you went to pick it up from the dealer?

Upon the arrival, do an all around visual inspection. Any blemishes, scratches, paint chipping is up to the dealer responsibility until you drive the car out of the lot. Check tire pressures as many dealerships forget to lower PSI in tires.

For a car I've ordered, I tell them to not even bother taking the plastic off. They don't need to detail it with a dirty rag with grit and sand in it. Get it off the truck, don't turn the engine over. Just leave it there and call me. And no goddamn dealer tags on the paint. I don't need to advertise for the dealership with my brand new car.

Sweet ride! I hope you can keep in under 100. I seriously considered one until I went to test drive it. That was my problem, I was doing over 100 and I didn't even know it.

I love how much nicer they are now than when they were first released too.

Enjoy man!

Very cool. I've actually been thinking lately that maybe I should just embrace the fact that the WRX hatch is probably the perfect car for me. Then upon research I realize they're still using the same model since 2007 which still has an ancient 5 speed transmission and it gets worse gas mileage than my mustang. Gah.

I ordered the Golf R in mid-October and took delivery mid-February...that was a long wait. My only instructions were to not drill out the front bumper.

I wouldn't sign until there was a WRITTEN commitment on the contract that would enable me to cancel order if not delivered on time.

But that's just me.

Theres a refundable $500 deposit that I can take back whenever I wish. Even if the car is delivered to them and I don't like/want it anymore.

The dealerships sell out of these cars constantly, so selling one more wouldn't be hard for them.

Alienwho, theyre coming out with a refresh with 2015. I just dont like how the new ones look.

I would agree but generally speaking I wouldn't pay in advance. So far I've ordered a car once. No payment required until it showed up at the dealership.

I can top that. We bought a S40 for my wife when the new body style came out. Ordered exactly what we wanted straight from the factory.

Time passes and the car is delivered to the dealership.

We go to pick it up and they've drilled 4 holes in the bumper to mount a front license plate bracket to put their dealer tag on. My state of residence does not issue a front tag so this thing is worthless to me. I take the car back and give the manager hell. His response was something along the line of "You should have told us not to do that" In the end I got a new bumper.

I thought we haven't seen what the new line looks like yet...

Well, since most dealers have very few (if any) 2013 WRX's still in stock they are going for and getting a premium price. If the dealer told you 4 to 8 weeks on your order I would plan on 8 weeks as a minimum.
