I'm usually up at midnight anyways, so I just checked AT, HardOCP, FiringSquad, Tom's, and the Inquirer every few minutes until about 1AM Central.

nVidia really should have done an online launch for the series, because just think of the hype they could have made all for free on their part by doing it that way - this way they are just annoying people with the damned NDA's. :|

Meh, Speed is up in all areas, but IQ still isn't that much better, much better than the Fx cards though, and Ati still seems to have the better AA

Oh and the card is huge and is 2 slots,and i *definately* would be afraid to put something on even the 2nd pci slot as I think it would block the fan up. This card also had another power component soldered onto the back of it, not very good looking. But then again i know a bunch of fanboys are going to immediately discount it because of drivers.

Judging by reever's post this card is about 2% as impressive as the hype makes it out to be.

Which, frankly, is not surprising.

In NFS:U it looks like the min difference is only 1, but the max is 20, and it is slower in far cry for min fps, only marginally faster for max fps Could this show that the 6800 ultra doesn't have as much horsepower as thought to be?

EDIT: Sorry, the 6800 ultra had 2x more AA on....

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the 6800 and R420 are all they are hyped up to be. I'm building a dually with a 5900xt (I don't plan on getting another pc for some time), and I hope that the last AGP cards will offer a substantial upgrade for when I decide to better my graphics. I don't plan on jumping on the PCI-Express bandwagon any time soon.

I am not so sure....it seems like the 6800 runs a lot of those games faster at 4x AA, 8x AF faster than the 5950 ran it with noaa, noaf.....
That seems like a pretty good improvement....I am still reserving judgement until I see Anands review...

Look at the 3rd from last, and last slide from the HardOCP directory in Reever's post.. are those FPS numbers in the corner?? If so, it's 214FPS (6800 Ultra) vs 112FPS (9800XT) both with 4xAA 16xAF.. if that's the case, that's VERY close to a doubling of FPS over that 9800XT??? Wow do I want one if true, even if the AA looks a little bit better (see the power lines) on the 9800XT.

Will be interesting to see what ATI does now. I wouldn't be surprised if they are the ones accused of doctoring benchmarks this time around.. seems like the strategy of the lower performing company to me, and nothing to do with the company involved.

The tests on those slides should have been done at the same res. and AA/AF level. Otherwise it's too hard to get a head to head and see how much of an improvement it really is.

I was up till 1:30...but only cause I had physics homework to do. I did check it right before I went to bed though and was somewhat disappointed nothing had been posted. By this morning I had completely forgot about it till noon. When I checked then and there was still nothing, I was very disappointed.
