Waiting to hear from Harvard Law.... need advice

Basically, my app has been in for a few months now, and I "should" have heard. I had below average numbers (for H) but really strong soft factors. I should have been rejected by now, but it appears I am on a sort of internal wait list.... or they just have been too lazy to reject me.

Does anyone have any advice as to if I should call them or indicate any sort of continued interest? I plan to commit to another school this week if I do not hear.

Odds are 9-1 you are right. But I don't know if I make my odds 90-1 by contacting them or if I make my odds 8-1...

What are your numbers and what are your soft factors?

I hope one of your soft factors is you being black, indian, or hispanic.

write a letter (snail mail) of intent if you REALLY want to go there. (basically, say that if accepted you WILL go there).

if you must reply to the other school this week, then call them up and ask your application status.

affordability is not an issue... they have a very generous financial aid program. even if you have to take out loans, which most people do, you won't really have a problem paying it back because you'll be making 6 figures after graduation. of course, some people want to go into public interest rather than work for a firm. for those people, there's the low income protection plan, where they make your loan payments for you (there's a sliding scale of how large a % they take care of depending on your income).

in summary, nobody who has done their research would ever be prevented from going to HLS due to an inability to pay.

Look into UCLA and Hastings law instead. About as good, less $.

i'll be the first to actually give you advice.

...write to them. in my opinion you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. imho, i think you're more afraid of getting a confirmed rejection than sitting quietly while nothing happens.

What are your numbers? Harvard doesn't really need to admit people with low numbers and good "soft factors" because they get enough people with excellent numbers and excellent "soft factors."

fwiw btw, they've already had both admitted student weekends... it is weird you haven't heard from them yet, regardless of whether or not you were waitlisted. i would contact them, perhaps some communication was lost.

If ANY test numbers are low, you're not getting in.

There are enough kids out there with all around high test scores to fill the seats at Harvard law.
