Wait's the keyword.

With Palomino, Sis 735, Nforce right around the corner, I suppose WAIT is the keyword for new pc buyers or upgraders the world over. I just hope these three make their debut soon, for I know, there are thousands out there who are going to get a new PC right now.

I would also like to request all companies the world over to simultaneously release their products internationally. RIght now, Tokyo gets it first, then US and Europe and then only do third world countries get the stuff. Therefore, computing enthusiasts like me in supposedly 'developing' countries like India get their hands on new stuff only by the time they are obsolete.

There is always going to be a new product around the corner, and someone will always tell you to wait. Live your dreams today, for tomorrow may never come.

Steve I agree,There are two reason to buy a new board. (1)cause you are upgrading your older system that you had for a while or (2) you are running a board with a 6 month old chipset on it and you want to try the new chip set out, even though you know the Nforce is right around the corner you will recycle the board you are putting in out for a Nforce in a few months any way.

If you keep waiting on new stuff you will always be waiting,Buy the best at the time that you can afford and if you not happy with it will only be a month or two until something new will be Out that you can replace it with.

It's different. Let me explain. For techies in US, it's upgrade every 2 months. You can risk overclocking and rigging up your pcs from all sides. For people like me, a new pc is once in 4 years. I run my PC on a retail processor, running it at rated speed, no overclocking. My current PC has worked 4 years. I've given it only one processor upgrade that came within $70. So, a new PC means it should work satisfactorily till I complete my engg. degree and persist after all sorts of new things I will try on it.

For us, here in India, buying a PC is something you give a lot of consideration. Because there is going to be no upgrade.

That is where, the word 'WAIT' comes strongly into picture, at least in te current circumstance.

BTW, if there are any indians out there, can you tell me if DDR is available here?

P.S. : I'm not steve. I'm named 'Anil'

I think that gil11542 was referring to Compuwiz1 when he said "Steve."

Well, buying a new computer is different for everybody. Some people are more patient than others and are willing to wait for a new chipset that will offer potentially better performance at the same price point. However, be careful not to fall into the trap of always waiting for the "next big thing" (tm). Within a few months of the release of the SiS 735, KT266, and nForce, dual motherboards will be widely available for cheap. Then you'll have the release of the SiS 740 and 745, followed by the Crush18 chipset with integrated NV17 (GeForce3 MX) graphics. And so on and so on. You could be waiting forever.

However, you seem to have set a realistic timetable for yourself: you want to buy a SiS 735 or nForce motherboard. Just as long as you stick to it and don't let yourself fall into the "waiting trap," you'll be fine.

Good luck!

Yeah, now I get it. The thing is, I thought he had taken me for another guy in the forum called 'intellkilla'. That's why I put that thing in. But thanx anyways. I'm gonna wait only till Sis 735, nforce and DDR get to india. ( I only hope I can wait until that before I plant a big kick into the K6-2 400 I have here.)

Don't mind that signature. I will change it, soon.
