Kinda pricy for a handheld game device. Looks nice though. Will it play the older games?

Yes, it plays all old GB games.

Actually, believe it or not, its already being worked on, and a version or two has been released, DSEmu. Not sure how complete it is, but I remember back a few years ago, a fully working GBA emu was released at least a week before it was.

Well let me see if I can work through the games. The DS can play GBA but not GB. GBA can play GB. Therefore wouldn't the DS be able to play GB games through the chain of command?

No. The GBA has a piece of code internally for it's StrongARM 7 processor that allows it to emulate the code intended for a regular GB and GB Color (Which are an 8 bit WD processor of some sort IIRC).

The Nintendo DS runs a StrongARM 9 processor (different code base) with code to emulate a GBA. Nintendo may not invest the effort to create an 8 bit WD emulator for a StrongARM series 9 processor; two layers of emulation would probably consume more RAM than the DS has.

Think of it like this (don't take this literally though): A PC can emulate a Mac at half-speed. A Mac can emulate a PC at half-speed. This doesn't mean that a PC can emulate a Mac emulating a PC and run it at 1/4 speed; it would be a lot slower.

Hm that's pretty pricey. I think I'll wait to see if there will be any nice promotional deals.

Seems pricey currently. I think waiting awhile and seeing how it pans out would be a wise choice. If they are still developing GBA games as well, this could easily end up being a Virtua Boy. Pricey hardware when something suffice is already popular. I'm not saying it's the next VB, but I'd hold off to see the library of games and how much is going to actually hit the markets.

Looks neat. Can't wait to actually play one and see some cool uses of the dual screens.

good luck with that on a plane or in the subway, PSP supposedly is going to go for $299 or $399 (anyone know for sure?), I guess that option is out for you too

Yeah, ten bucks say the GameBoy will still be more portable This thing looks to have N64 quality games, which is very stunning for a handheld. Check out ebgames, and some of the pics for it.

The emulator will have two screens on your screen and your mouse acts as your finger on the touch-screen LCD.

My guess...
