Walking Dead- season 9 discussion thread (premiers 10/7/18)

I skipped the previous two episodes to Rick's last and somehow didn't appear to miss anything. Not often I miss episodes and not wonder what's happening and why. I can't tell if this show is so decompressed now that it's filled with a ton of wasted time, or if nothing they're doing matters. This will be my final episode though. The show lost it's way years ago and never recovered. Funny enough, even though they got rid of Rick, it still looks to follow the books. Unless the zombies really have evolved and are talking now..

I heard them talking about the episode on the radio and at the end they fast forward like 3 years, and the zombies are now starting to communicate and talk. Is that really true?

6 years, and if they follow the comics, it's people wearing walker skins and integrating themselves into hordes.

Hey... they shoulda killed her when they had the chance. If I learned anything from watching Breaking Bad (a better AMC program than this one), it's that it's dangerous to take half-measures when the full measure is required.

Gotta admit last night was a bit gut wrenching. In spite of Alpha cleaning up nicely she proved she is the ultimate bad ass.

How did you feel about the ones killed?

One that bothered me the most was Enid. Addy I would have liked to see more of. The Highwaymen I liked and expected more of in the future so thats not to be. Tara Ive never liked so not loss there. Henry was a typical teen PIA. Negans ex wife was cute but NBD except maybe to inspire Negan if he cared about her..

Lydia is now left in limbo with no Henry. End of her storyline?

Is Negan coming back as the avenging Angel? You know Carol is going to go nuclear and I pity the fools.

I havent read the comics and only know what is on the show but this seems logical.

I'm sad about Enid. So hot. And dang so was Frankie (Negan's ex-wife) although I didn't know who she was until I looked it up. Agreed on never liking Tara. And I wish we could've seen more of the Highway Guys; kinda sucks they were introduced and then an episode or two later killed off. What's the point? The rest of the ones who died were no-name bums, and Henry sucked hard so I'm kinda glad about that.

Daryl and Carol gonna murder fools and it will be sweet. They need to wipe out that Whisperer scum once and for all. Useless psychos.

Wow.... they really didn't even try in that intro. It takes more than 2 minutes of character development to get someone to feel pity about the next group of cannon fodder to get killed by (Insert this season's Bad Guys here)

That is why I stopped watching. I wanted them to go somewhere else and do something else, like finally try to follow up on what they learned at the CDC in season 1. At least they could have poked through some government buildings or other stuff being right outside of DC. Instead they went and got a plough from a museum exhibit? Cmon now.

But no, most of the people who even remember the CDC incident are dead. It's hard to say if Carol or Daryl really remember everything the egghead said. Rick would have remembered. And instead of following up on what happened to him in the helicopter (because Andrew Lincoln left the show), we get Whisperers. Pass.

I agree. Very good episode.
The Highwaymen were good cannon fodder. DJ too but what happened to the rest of his group. I had forgotten about Frankie. It may be a good launching point for Negan. I stand by my prediction form October that Negan becomes the new Rick. Tammy was an extra that I was attached to. Rodney who? Now this will be controversial; I was "hit-hardest" by Addy's death with awe and an out load laugh. Those glasses on the head was hilarious. Enid, Tara and Henry were really good mid-line characters that really brought the main characters forward on the screen. They did their part well. From joining to death.
Lydia will make a good third wheel. A mystery to link plots. A good deus ex machina.
I really really hope Carol goes nuclear. As a matter of fact, that the main group goes nuclear. And this would inspire a they move away from communities again. As Michonne put it; To take all the danger away with them.

Season 9 - Best season since S1 & S2. I like the ensemble cast. Tired of Andrew Lincoln's acting.
