Alright so our chemistry teacher gave us a project in which we have 10 dollars to buy supplies to walk across our highschool pool. We can have items "donated" which basically is stuff lying around the house. What would you all suggest to be the best way to float? Thanks for the help.

Boat.

Try Milk Jugs and connect them somehow to each other.

I think the problem for most will be actually maintaining balance...do you have to WALK or can you "crawl?"

first, you need to do some chemistry math. water has a density of 1kg/L or 1g/mL. in order to float, you need to make your density less than that so you float in the first place

I did a physics project like that last year. Used a ton of 2 liter bottles to build a hamster wheel.

It would be awesomely amusing if you could get someone to donate one of those absorbent powders that solidify water.

Sounds interesting......give us the results. Can you use a boat....or does it have to be "walking"

Heh, you have to use 2 feet to walk across the pool. You can't "crawl". The project isnt due till like april, shes teaching us about density and stuff after spring break, i just wanted some ideas.

This is gonna end badly. Lots of student will slip and crack their skull and turn into veggies. School gets sued for millions.

be creative, bend the rules... stretch a tarp across the pool, hold it down with cinder blocks or something.. walk across.

Duhhhh
You people have to learn how to think outside the box. How deep could the pond possibly be??

Solution: Stilts.
Make sure bottoms have sufficient surface area and shape to not sink into mud and get stuck.

Yes. Because walking on stilts through water (it's a pool, btw) is rather an easy task.

So disappointed. Stay after class to speak with me, Mr. Pizza.

Dr. Pizza's school cut chlorine out of the budget a couple years ago

If you have good balance you can use a pair of kickboards like snowshoes. Like logrolling, I'd imagine it would be hard as hell and hurt if you lose your balance!
