Clearly you don't understand deterrents or a layered defense. The wall, which is actually a fence, is universally the first layer in preventing egress into or out of any controlled area. Military bases, airports, construction sites, schools, playgrounds, and borders are all places where deterrent barriers are used. A fence alone will almost never stop an intruder, they work in conjunction with a second and often a third layer deterrent. The second layer can be guards, electronic monitoring, or land mines.
It's a system.

Thank you for making his point.

Doesn't much matter what you call it, it's the idea that the "wall" on it's own would stop illegal border crossings that's stupid. It's a first line deterrent, that's all it could ever be.

Seems cheaper and more environmentally friendly to nail employers' asses to the wall for hiring undocumented folks. The data from the great recession clearly shows that when employment opportunities for undocumented workers dry up, they go/stay home.

I agree. Nail employers to the wall, though many pay cash, so it's tough to catch them. I'd also go with no drivers licenses, no government assistance of any kind, and no citizenship for babies born of non citizen parents.
None of this is based in anger or hate, but the simple realization that when you reward a crime you're promoting more of it. I'd also like to see a guest worker program that's easy to use and grants the people who use it a clear path to citizenship. Lets make these folks into successful taxpayers.

Hit a little nerve there did I?
My comments on the fence are completely valid. It's security 101. It goes right along with putting locks on doors, even doors made of glass.
I'll also note that the actions of others aren't my actions. I didn't hire an illegal, I didn't marry one. That I didn't decry the actions of others here is meaningless. I comment as I see fit, what you think of that never enters the equation.

yes you did hit a nerve. It shows how fucking stupid are the gop and their followers.

The wall / fence is defeated by just buying a few things from Home Depot. Ladder rope battery powered sawzall/ disc grinder or bolt cutters maybe even a shovel

But you go out of your way to ignore the immigration issue that the law makers are doing themselves and you end up putting your faith they will do something useful when they are committed the crime you want them to fix. Fox watching the hen house while his home filled with chickens

Do you want to come to San Diego and show off your wall climbing/home depot tool abilities?

What a weird reply. It's silly to cherry pick a single section to use as an example, as if in some way it defeats his stance. It clearly doesn't, as the vast majority of the wall lies outside of A-Whales-Vagina, CA.

I know you're smarter than this, but you still did it anyway. It's not shocking Mr. Secret Reasons "liked" the post, lel. I mean, if you think the whole wall is like this, AND also think we have "open borders" like pcgeek does, then you've gotta be the dumbest mofo around.

So, in the end, you'll will find select sections heavily fortified like in your example, but certainly not all of it.

The information is out there, use the internet to find it, I'll get you started: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/mar/03/trump-border-wall-breached-smugglers

from the article:
“No structure is impenetrable, so we will continue to work to focus resources on modern, effective border management measures to improve safety and security,” Luis Miranda, a spokesperson for Customs and Border Protection (CBP) told the Post.

He added that border security “requires a variety of resources and efforts, infrastructure, technology, and personnel”, much of which was not funded when Trump’s wall was constructed.

hm, go figure.

So what you're saying here is that you're ignoring what I said about the fence in order to make a barely comprehensible point about the GOP, and then claiming everyone involved in it is stupid. Not a real solid argument.

if beating strawman was a Olympic sport, you’d get the gold.

Your obvious bias is obvious.

I mean, your preferred political party lives and breathes poor arguments, doesn’t seem to phase you one bit

Why bother when you can just take a jetski and bypass it entirely? I mean, you do know San Diego is on the ocean, right? Fat lot of good a fucking wall does there.

Also, didn't they find multiple tunnels that bypassed the wall in San Diego as well?

Hell at this point, that wall probably does more to keep homeless people in San Diego instead of going over to Tijuana than it does keeping immigrants out of San Diego.

Tough to do in practice though when you've got 24/7 SEAL Teams training along that stretch

The wall is a deterrent not a impenetrable barrier as some people would claim on the right. It is just one part of a system meant to deter people/drugs from sneaking into the US.
The wall itself is really meant to deter/delay. This allows then border patrol resources to arrive onsite before wall climbing/grinding process is completed. Before the wall was in place you would have large masses of immigrants just swarm across and overwhelm border patrol resources in the San Diego area.

If you are a immigrant trying to get into the US illegally do you think you would access to a Jetski? Trying the ocean route just isn't a common way because it requires additional resources and will usually attract the attention of the Coast Guard and Border patrol. However some people still try. Just like some people still use boats to try and smuggle in drugs into the US. Continual game of cat and mouse.

https://www.borderreport.com/news/s...-migrants-around-border-barrier-in-the-water/

Our you can be like these guys, get up on the wall and then forget to bring a way to get back down the other side.

Spend the wall money on chasing employers who employ illegals. Legalize all drugs, drug law enforcement monies go to actual drug education and social programs. Watch illegal border crossings decline drastically. My .02

How exactly does this pertain to understanding what a fence does? We've been discussing a fence, what a fence is for, and where it's commonly used. My political affiliations have no impact on the installation or use of fencing.
It appears that you have nothing of value to add to the discussion so you decided on a weak attempt to make it a political issue. Good luck with that, I'll stick with the actual facts of what a fence is and what it's expected to do. I'm sure that if you think about it for a while, or ask your dad for some help, you'll be able to understand the information I presented.
