Left wallet, keys, and phone in an open area while playing basketball today, same place I've been going to for a couple years now. Never had any problems until now. Everything was in eyesight, I guess I must have been too distracted to keep a good enough eye on it. Now that I think about it, two kids were lingering around for quite a while, no doubt they were the ones who took it. After I was done, went to get my stuff, and wallet was gone. Keys and phone were still there, although obviously moved a couple inches.

Wallet contained license, debit card, gift cards, social security (stupid i know) and some cash. I'm not worried about the gift cards or cash, and I have called to get debit card deactivated. What are my options regarding license and social security?

I'm hoping they took the cash and cards and ditched the rest...

Latino? Seriously though, why bring phone/wallet to the courts? If you drive, leave them in your glovebox if you walk leave them at home.

A wallet, out in the open, with money, a debit card, AND a SS card? Dear Lord, the fail is strong with this one.

EDIT: As far as actual advice goes, you'll want to put a fraud alert on your credit file ASAP. You can do this through any of the three services (Experian/TransUnion/Equifax).

Don't you own a backpack, duffle or something else where your friggin wallet wouldn't be left out in the open? Then you have your SS card in it? And I'm guessing only one particular race would steal a wallet?

I realize it was very stupid of my to have the SS card in there. The courts are generally a very safe place to leave stuff sitting around, the majority of people leave their keys/phone/wallet sitting around while they play. It is a membership-only club, so problems like this rarely occur.

I've learned my lesson though. Only carry the essentials with you, and leave even those in the car if you can.

I found a phone in the cinema and i made sure it found its owner.

Perhaps you lost it elsewhere.... are you sure it was with you when you went to basket ball?

I had a look around my garden... its not there ( i am in Australia, so i dont think me looking helps.)

You need to ring a cancel your credit and bank cards. And you need to let the police know, that way its reported stolen and it could turn up. Im not sure how to deal with ss card we dont have them here.

Positive I lost it right then and right there at the gym. Thanks though. Tomorrow I'm taking a trip to the police department as well as the DMV.

guess you learned the hard way why this is a ridiculously horrible idea. cancel your credit cards. they probably pitched the wallet after taking that and the money, worst case for a license and SS card is you just get them replaced.

spare key in your pocket, everything else in the car.
