Last night, around 10-12pm, my wallet and cell phone was stolen from my vehicle parked 10 feet from my garage door. My debit card, personal credit card, company credit card, and drivers license were stolen.
I didn't find out about the theft until around 7:30am this morning.
Beginning at approximately 2am, my debit card was used at 2 different Walmart stores for $385 and $465 charges. My company card was also used for approximately $150 in gas around 4:00am.
1) Called police; report forthcoming.
2) Notified all accounts of theft before 9:00am, including cell phone company.
3) Opened new checking account.
4) Obtained amounts/time/location of all charges and faxed to police.
5) Contacted all 3 credit unions and initiated fraud alert on my credit.
6) Monitored all accounts throughout the day, last charge shows up at 4:00am.
I also talked to the loss prevention department at one Walmart, and they seemed fairly aggressive with helping me out since the total amount was greater than $500.
I'm not worried about the money, as my bank has already stated they will cover the fraudulent charges.
I'm more concerned about my credit. Is there anything else I should be doing?
