Walmart has the ElementElectronics 50" diagonal Model # ELEFW502 for $298.00 plus tax. I had never heard of this brand before and it may be the local store in Waverly, OH. A quick search online showed folks have this unit on Craiglist for $425.

I google searched for that model number - grand total of 26 hits on google, including a starting bid on ebay of $300. And some of those hits don't actually mention it (like pricewatch), many of the others are people reselling them. Makes me wonder if they're reselling them because they bought them for $298 and are hoping to make a buck (does it work to resell stuff everyone sees at Walmart for more than it costs at Walmart?), else it's people not satisfied with it. I haven't found any reviews.

Depends on if it was limited sale or availability. If supplies at $300 dries up, then yes there can be a resale market for them.

There are also people who de facto shops used/eBay/Craigslist because they always assume cheaper prices than retail.

Such a market exists before the Wally World supply dries up, as shown by the very links DrP refers to, because:

There are also people who de facto shops used/eBay/Craigslist because they always assume cheaper prices than retail.

De facto above-o so, so true-o. There are far, far more folks who trawl used/eBay/Craiglist than are hip to sd/fw/HD, probably by at least an order of magnitude.

HD ferengi as an elite, who'd a thunk it? :awe: We're probably only between 5 -10% of even today's on-line population. Hard to believe but true.

So, there a plethora of CL suckers out there who just don't know any better. And yet those guys are heads and shoulders above the ones who shuffle into Best Buy/Staples/Walmart with that deer in the headlights stare, looking to buy a $30 usb connector for their chipped cartridge, ink jet printer.

Just remember folks, those Nigerian princes don't keep asking because nobody falls for them.

Also, as consumers go, we rock. :ninja:
