Let me also state quite strongly that you cannot compare the picture on a television in a store because they frequently have the contrast and brightness at 100% because it looks better to the average joe. ANY TV you buy - you should calibrate with Video Essentials or Avia Guide to Home Theater DVD. It will look very different than it did in the showroom, believe me.
You have to read reviews and other users' (who have calibrated) experiences. The best place for that sort of thing is not here but instead at
Receivers? Get a Marantz. Those are sooooo nice. Except they're a bit pricey. It'll be a good chunk of your 5k you want to spend. But they're phenomenal... Be sure to get good wire while you're at it. Don't want your system to be awesome just to be held back by cheap Radio Shack stuff.
