True!
And over on the news channels, the administration stands up there linking the proposed promise of employee pay hikes to Trump tax policy. But refuse to link Walmart layoffs and closings to Trump tax policy.
Pick n chose your triumphs. (As it were...)

They did the same thing to other businesses during their rise to the top only to have Amazon reciprocate it to them decades later.

Wow, a business is closing under-performing locations and streamlining their operations? That's never happened before in the history of the world, yep, Trump's fault.

Wait, so you are saying that a corporations tax rate has very little to do with creating, let alone, maintaining existing jobs? Then what was all that talk about a high corporate tax rate being job killing?

Welcome to the club water boy!

I agree, typical business move that has nothing to do with our President but I hate how shady companies can be - Not notifying employees and just locking the doors and leaving a notice???

Well, you have to also consider that they are raising their wages all the way to the bottom.

Sucks, one of the clubs closing is the one we go to just about every week. Next closest one is about 30 minutes away. Going to have to completely alter our weekend routine.

So, conversely, you could say: "Wow. over-performing locations and expanding their operation? That's never happened before in the history of the world, yep, Trump's got nothing to do with it."

Even if a business is losing money they should keep it open? What are they the government?
They just got a whole bunch of free money so why not? That's what the tax cuts were for, right? To create jobs? Because everyone knows it's common sense that if corporations have more money they will use it to create jobs.

They raised their wages a whole dollar and still pay lower than the industry standard (they would have had to raise wages anyway since alot of places raise minimum wage). Their bonus of $1000 only goes to employees that have been their for over 20 years. All of that pales in comparison to the massive amounts of money they will be saving via the tax cuts and the removal of 63 stores and the associated employees.

You realize that they have millions of employees right?

Sure. When Wal-Mart was growing and expanding and building new location after new location it had nothing to do with Trump. It was a reaction to Wal-Marts success in the retail marketplace. And now that the retail marketplace is being shrunk due to online competition retailers are either streamlining or failing completely (Sears, K-Mart, Circuit City, etc) Only the truly pathetic and delusional would view this as anything but a necessary move to adjust to the fact that RETAIL IS DYING. It was dying long before Trump came along and it will continue to die long after he''s gone. Wal-mart is overbuilt in B&M and needs to adapt, cut underperforming locations and move their operations more in the direction of online order fulfillment or they'll wind up like Caldor, Bradlee's and he rest of the defunct businesses that didn't adapt.

Is this really so difficult to understand?

What, you're saying that corporations are obligated to carry money losing locations to the detriment of their other profitable locations and that jobs will be saved by propping up dogshit stores while the rest go bankrupt?

Welcome to the real world delusional fucktard. B&M is a dying market segment and Wal-Mart is doing what's necessary to survive. Were Sears and K-Mart failing somehow related to Trumo's tax policy or did that start before Donnie? Take your time, don't hurt yourself trying to answer.

Nice combination of ignorance and arrogance you have going there.

To be fair, the article I read said employees would be paid for 60 days and receive severance if not hired by another Sam’s/Walmart within that timeframe.

This has nothing to do with politicians. This is all about the decimation of brick and mortar by the internet.

The overarching trend is that each person is becoming an island unto themselves with less and less interaction with other humans. Hope that turns out ok for us. Social creatures tend not to flourish in isolation.

Between the tax breaks, cutting employees and closing locations. They will be swimming in money. I wonder what they should do with it all.

Walmart has 20 year employees? Thought the longest turn over/burn out rate was about eight years with most floor people considered as part time/on call even if they work over 40 hours a week. I think in the last ten years our local Walmart has gone through 3 managers with maybe three people there from the start.
