Walmart...why do we keep doing this to ourselves?

I don't think I know anyone (who's not a complete moron, at least) that says 'yay, Walmart! They're the best!' It is such a universally-hated shithole of a store.

Yet we all still deal with them. Don't lie...everybody goes in there every once in a while. Maybe no one else had what you needed (or wasn't open), maybe you're dealing with them because it's between that and losing money. Example:

Someone bought me a Bluray player for Christmas. Nice gesture, they were thinking of me, yada yada...but they were under the impression that I had a TV that needed one. I don't. I know it was purchased at Walmart and don't particularly want to hurt their feelings...so, after ensuring that a return fell within their specified policy, I went to go do it.

'Nope!' they say. 'We don't do that for electronics.' Hmm...I wonder if you know what 'electronic' implies, dipshit Walmart CS person? 'Cause that's most of your store. You'll take fuckin' soiled bedsheets back sans receipt, it would appear, but not unopened electronics.

'They're just trying to protect themselves from scammers!' some will say. Well, maybe they should focus on not being retarded for that purpose. I walked into the store...no one at the door to tag the item for returns. Walked to CS, got told to fuck off, walked back out the door with an unopened item with no receipt. Yep, you're really doing your part to combat theft and deception...

In case anyone wants to argue that I'm outside their policy:

http://corporate.walmart.com/return-policy
http://help.walmart.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/190/related/1#no_receipt

ELECTRONICS - 90 days unless listed below

The following electronics items must be returned within 15 days of receipt:

Computers
Computer hardware
Camcorders
Digital cameras
GPS units
Digital music players
Tablets
E-Readers
Portable video players
Computer software must be returned unopened. Televisions can be returned within 90 days.

If we ignore the intricacies of the English language and take 'within 15 days of receipt' to mean 'within 15 days and with a receipt'...yeah, a set top Bluray player is still not on that exception list.

'Well, I'll call their 1-800 number and complaint, at least,' I think.

Nope. It's baffling that they are this archaic...never knew. Most large companies, I could get in an instant phone or text chat discussion with someone. Not here. It says 'call your local store.' LOL, yeah right. Or 'email your local store' for even more lulz.

Why the fuck can we as a society not keep feeding this degenerate company? Fuck me. I guess I'll go 'scam' Best Buy into taking my return, since I know they will. Way to be shitty and push your deficiencies onto someone else, Walmart.

And yes, I mad, bro. I've never had a single dealing with these fucksticks that wasn't objectionable. And there's hardly any other local option even out there for some items. I'm determined to fight my laziness, though...I'll drive an hour for a $5 item if it keeps me out of there.

Oh, and the other awesome thing I thought I'd mention...I was SURE I'd be in the right here, but their policies actually did win. I went to buy something that only they had, and they charged me 20% more for not buying online. 'But it says it is available in store right below the price. You're telling me I don't get that price?'

'NAH, WE DUN MATCH DA ONNNN-LIIIINE.'

So I could pay online and pick it up out of your inventory...and that's different? Seems like that just hurts your store more. Don't honor your own listed online prices? What fucking year is it, 1998?

But here it is, from their website:

Prices may vary from store to store because each store is required to manage its own inventory. Therefore, a manager may lower a price to clear out an overstock item, to reward customers with an in-store sale, or to compete with local merchants. It is not our policy to price match our own stores or our online service since we are not in competition with ourselves.

If you would like more information on pricing policy, you may contact your local store management.

Written using the Universal Guide to Dumbfuckery, it would appear. 'We are not in competition with ourselves.'

Uh, it appears that not only are you exactly that, you're fucking terrible at is. Thanks for wasting my time. You got me again, Walmart.

I used to buy OTC medicine and household supplies at walmart.

Walmart isn't as bad in some places. I noticed a pretty huge difference between Walmart in say a nice part of California and the ghetto of Milwaukee.

I loved it when Walmart used to be open past 10pm. I'd do my Walmart runs late when there's not a single soul there (I'm a ginger so I can't even count myself) and it was a pleasant experience. Probably why they arn't open late anymore, not busy enough. I'd pickup some groceries while I'm there. Their grocery section is actually pretty decent quality, even the produce. I don't know how they do it really. Their bananas are usually nice and green, that's how I like them. Wait till they start turning yellow but still have some green left and they're at their prime.

They also have one of the best return policies. I've never had an issue returning something even if I did not have my receipt.

On the other hand, I do kinda feel guilty when I'm supporting a megacorporation that kills small business and treats it's employees like crap. Walmart is a fine example of capitalism.

I don't shop there that often but I can't say it's a bad experience when I do.

Down here in the real world, there are plenty of them open 24 hours.

Ours was actually 24/7 for a few months then they stopped. It went to midnight. But last I checked it was like 10. But that goes with most stuff here. Sucks.

They practically start rolling up the sidewalks at 5 here.

Weird, I've returned HDTVs, consoles, and bluray players to Walmart. Oh, I had receipts.

I don't object to a policy of requiring receipts.

But they don't have such a policy. I object to being trolled by shitty retailers.

edit: LOL, good thing it's not their policy to have to have the item in the box you're returning, though.

Maybe I'll just go do that for spite. ('Oh noes you're just part of the problem!' No, I think causing them to lose money is part of the solution...)

Get the receipt from the person who gave you the player? Make up a story so that their feelings aren't hurt?

OP is an epic fail. Why the hell would they take something back without the receipt? For all they know, you could have gone and bought it on Amazon or stolen it from somewhere and then tried to return it there for more money. There is WAY too much fraud theses days. They run a business, not cater to your every whim. You sound like a spoiled brat who's parents did a shit job raising you.

How about you man up and ask for he freaking receipt like a normal non-basement dweller with social skills? But no, you'd rather go scam best buy or another store. WTf, you idiot?

I'm sure I could. But now it's a vendetta.

The butthurtedness comes from trying to be a decent person and act within their own shit policies...and I get my time wasted.

All while this particular Walmart location pretty much does all they can to support actual thievery.

You sound like someone who can't read for shit. And whose parents did a shit job making sure you learned grammatical skills.

If you instituted a policy of not being an illogical retard, perhaps I would be more likely to listen to your highly ironic griping about my griping.

I wouldn't expect an basement-dwelling internet retard (such attacks are almost always uttered by those who actually fit the description more than the target) like yourself to understand an attempt at having some tact and not wishing to hurt the feelings of or be deceitful to a family member.

Walmart's okay and they're fairly inexpensive. The stores are just always too big and too crowded for my liking. There's all the demon spawn in there with their kids. Plus it's across town when I've got a Target 5min up the road.

Yeah, Walmart sucks.

But so do all the others, and for the same reasons. I pick Walmart because I only have to stand in line to check out once, instead of doing it at four different stores.

A lot of the more general gripes I have about Walmart may be a result of my local store, but it sure seems universal when I talk to others.

Yeah, you stand in line once...but around here, you do it for about thirty minutes as the least skilled cashier in the world slowly moves through customers, usually while actively bitching to nearby coworker who is doing nothing. He is manning one of the two open registers in a store with (no joke) about fifty total. Maybe more.

And it took you just as long to gather items over the vast plains of human despair as it would to walk in and out of multiple stores. And you probably didn't find what you were looking for.

That's generally my experience, and what sets me up for a possible rampage if someone at Walmart so much as farts in my direction.
