Actually, it really doesn't matter what the Taiwanese government wants because when China finally wants to get Taiwan back nothing's gonna stop them. China doesn't even need to send troops, they have enough missiles to pound us (I'm Taiwanese) into submission. And I seriously doubt George W. would risk over 1 billion consumers for a small island. >>
For one thing, China has ALWAYS wanted Taiwan back. Another thing is why would China destroy Taiwan with missles if it wants it back? That is just foolish thinking. I too am Taiwanese, and if you just take a glimpse, Taiwan is basically a seperate country from China (they even have their own language), much like how Hong Kong was. You think that if China made a move on Taiwan no other country would do a thing? That's like saying that no one would do anything if the former USSR invaded Berlin back in the day. C'mon now and think, I agree with the former person, a "united" China is NOT going to happen anytime soon and without a good fight.
