PNY 512mb PC133 (infineon chip)
Antec SLK-1600 w/300 watt Antec Smart Power

Thanks

I did use, still have the K7T Turbo2 "somewhere"... it was very instable with the 512MB memory modules, would error if the module was in the first memory slot with conservative memory timings, only stable at 133MHz (wouldn't go even 1 MHz higher, might be a BIOS bug) in the 2 outermost slots. Remove the 512MB module, put a 256MB module in that has the SAME infineon memory chips on it, and it ran stable up to 150-odd MHz CAS2.

I expect that you'll be able to run fine at 12.5 multi, 133FSB, = 1.67GHz. Any higher than that and you may need to ditch the 512MB memory module and/or cut some CPU bridges to bump the proc up over the +8 hump (use multipliers over 12.5).

However, I was using a [modded-to-fit] PAL8045, I dont' know how well the GC68 'sink scales.

I got my MSI from Z-Buy yesterday Product Link
Less than $1 for FedEx shipping was sweet
I have to say I am quite impressed w/ my first non-Abit brand name motherboard purchase
Onboard sound, video and 10/100 NIC that screams over my LAN (25MB of Favorites in 10 secs) for less than $57 shipped
I have a 900 running on it (which is a 100MHz bus CPU) but have two sticks of PC133 256MB Kingston SDRAM from the Buy
In the BIOS, you can set the RAM bus to 133
Does this mean that it can run the CPU at 100MHz but the RAM at 133MHZ - I didn't realize this was an option - thought I was going to run everything 100MHz per the jumper on the board but that seems to be for the CPU FSB only

I believe the KLE133, like the KT133A, support asynchronous operation of the FSB and memory bus. Hence the ability to use a 100 FSB processor and PC133 memory (running at 133).

M7VIG is by far the best budget option here. I have built several systems with this board, quite solid. This discussion has been had like 20 times on this forum and there is none better in this situation.

Why the people in this post are opting for a SDRAM only botherboard without DDR upgradability it beyone me. In most cases the most you will save is $5, I just don't get it.

A note to those considering a Biostar product.
If an RMA is needed.... forget it. I was told flat out that the only way I could RMA my new retail Biostar MB was to PAY for them to fix it!!! It was cheaper to buy a new one.
Just a vent!!

Because some people (like me ) have 7 extra sticks of SDRAM laying around and no extra DDR
Even at the Crucial Best Buy prices, that saves you over $70 on two sticks (rather than just the $5 board difference)

People, you don't have to buy the DDR right as you buy the new board, use your SDRAM for a few weeks until you find a deal. If you want to save money look through the forums for deals on DDR. All of my DDR I have obtained (Centon, Kingston, generic) have pretty much come to me free. Just a few weeks ago they had 512 DDR for $2X.XX shipped through like 3 vendors. Some orders are being cancelled but the price difference between DDR and SDRAM, if you keep your head up in the forums, is hardly noticable. At least leave your option open for upgrading, don't lock yourself into using SDRAM.

Didn't realize you were talking about boards w/ slots for BOTH rather than DDR only - my bad -

Although in your case if you do have 7 sticks laying around, there is only 2 slots available on the M7VIG for SDRAM, you won't be able to use as much as with 4 empty slots on other boards.

I ended up putting in 2 sticks of PC133 256MB Kingston RAM
The next best SDRAM I have are 3 sticks of PC100 128MB Kingston RAM
