Want to add a second Monitor, need advice.

I have never done this before. I have an extra monitor that I want to add to my system for graphics design. My current monitor is running off my AGP Geforce2. Do I just buy any PCI VidCard and install it, hook the monitor up, install drivers and away I go?? Let me know your advice. Thanks.

Yep just put your new card in a pci slot then make sure you set your mother board to use the AGP card as your primary. Then when you boot up windows 98 will see the new card and will take it from there.

I am running Windows 2000, and I am looking at the VooDoo 5500 PCI in addition to my current Geforce2 AGP, does anyone see a problem???? Thanks.

Yes, the 3dfx cards don't really exist any more! I'd personally go with the Geforce 2 mx PCI, but thats just me...

I have three multi-monitor setups and you need to check dual video compatibility on microsoft's site for reccomended cards. Once you decide on a card the rest is easy.

Just out of curiousity, which Iiyamas? I've had a Vision Master 450 (19&quot for about a year now and it's performed great.

Windows 2000 handles multiple monitors rather better than Win9x. You can boot from either PCI or AGP and still get the other card to work. On 9x I find I have to use AGP. Win2000 can shuffle resources about better.
Try convincing me of the benefit of two monitors though, I'm interested but unconvinced.
