Hey Guys,
I'm new to Computer building(and also on AnAndTech Forum) but been gaming since PS1 and Xbox. So this is the 1st time I want to build a PC Gaming setup. My requirements are Fast 4k Gaming and Future proofing a system for atleast 5 years.
Here's what I found so far to build my PC:
Motherboard; Gigabyte Z390 Aorus MASTER.

CPU; Intel Core i9-9900K.

RAM; "Corsair Vengeance LED" or "Trident Z RGB" 32 GB(2×16GB).

GraphicCard; Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti.

HDD; Seagate FireCuda2TB (×4 cuz I do photography and stuff so I need more hard drive space).

SSD; Samsung SSD 970 EVO PLUS and WINDOWS 10PRO on same SSD.

PowerSupply; Corsair RM850x.

I would really appreciate if anyone can help/guide my build. My Budget is 5grand(can go bit higher if needed).
Thank You!

Consider Ryzen 3900X at all? It is 100 off at Microcenter right now.

Do you actually mean US5k for the build?

Yes, USD $5,000. And No I don't know anything about Ryzen series. If you wanna recommend me Ryzen CPU then plz tell me something from Ryzen that if Future Proof then.

there is no such thing as future proof for five years. With the resurgence of AMD, there is finally innovation on the CPU front. Zen 3 is arriving end of year and should be on same socket as Zen 2. After that it will definitely need an update for DDR5 and maybe PCIE5. Intel side is playing catch up at the moment. We'll see how they fare at next release. If you have a Microcenter nearby, go for 3900X. Gaming is really GPU bound.

get 64GB at least if you are going to photochop.

I am assuming by SSD you mean nvme?

9900K is from 2018Q3

or you can step up to Threadripper 32 core 3970X given your budget.

why are you buying 4 2TB drives? Get large capacity drives for storage and nvmes for fast access stuff.

Can you plz give me a rundown list of what You think are the best parts for Gaming Rig with that budget? RAMs Motherboards and CPU? Also HardDrive and NVMEs you're talking about. I don't wanna like upgrade my Comp everyyear. So I want the best from this year so I can play games in 4k and also you said about DDR5 so is there any motherboard which can just Upgrade Rams from DDR4 to DDR5? Like i just have to buy DDR5 rams and not the whole setup all over again?

no, that is what I meant when I said there is going to be fast mb refreshes again now. Best of this year would be 3900x but that will change at end of year when Zen 3 is released. Intel refresh is probably around the same timeframe as well. I don't think 3950x is a good fit for most people.

something like this? You can slap on another pair of 32gb if you want to max it out.
nvme = ssd that is directly attached to PCIe, much better transfer rate.

add external hdd when they go on sale for your content storage needs. Shuck them if you want to stick them in the case. I don't care for RGB since they introduce noise in the power.

if you are feeling spendy, get this and 4 adata 8200 pro nvme and you get 15 gigabyte per second read/write

I mean are you talking about Ryzen 9 3950x when you say it's not gonna be for everyone?

yeah because you are going to hit memory bandwidth limit even with 4x32 ddr4. And that doesn't fit your workload. For people that are in content creation or compute heavy workload, it is great. gaming and photochop, not so much.

So you mean Ryzen 3900x is the best they've to offer for this year for Gaming and Photoshop?

You can go to threadripper if you want but I don't think it fits your workload.

End of year is when Zen 3 will show up. I have no idea what kind of improvement that will bring.

But Zen3 is basically just CPU upgrade, right? Other things like Motherboard and RAMs will be the same? Meaning I can buy 9300 now and will wait out for Zen3 but I'm only afraid of building whole another PC all over again just cuz of CPU Upgrade. I can do DDR5 swap too but Not Motherboard and stuff like that. Can you suggest me Motherboard for that too?

Zen 3 is supposed to be same platform. As far as we can tell right now. Nothing is known about Zen 3 yet. So nothing can be said about mb. It looks like it will stay on AM4 but that is not 100%

But can I be absolute confident about Ryzen 3900x and 32GB RAM that it'll allow me to Play 4k Games 60FPS and 1080p with Higher FPS and also also can Edit my Photos on Photoshop. For atleast 2 years? Before the Games of 2022 or 2023 Starts requiring Zen3 or more for Gaming? Like those Requirements stats says under Games on Steam?

It's gpu bound, not really cpu bound, so it is the video card you have to worry about. You'll be fine with 3900X for at least three years.

The build I linked is 64GB ram

My wholeee "Future proofing" thing is that I'll pay for what's best Right now and don't have to worry about upgrading it For Gaming. Like Games would start eating 64GB rams and 20GB Graphiccard or something like that? I just wanna build a PC that can and will withstand future titles of videogames. For atleast 3 year ok not 5 but 2 or 3.

I have no control over where games will go in three years. I assume most of them will be more multi threaded. RDNA 2 will be out in that timeframe as well and it looks promising.

Fwiw, if you want a mixed use pro + gaming PC, 3900X is fantastic.

If you are primarily gaming, the 9900K/KS even without overclocking are just outright better than the Zen2. It's the only thing they're really better at IMHO.

However, this only matters if you will use a variable refresh high performance display. 60hz it doesn't matter. Even an i5 or Ryzen 3600 is more than enough for 60fps gaming.

I have a 3700x build and a 9900KS build. With Gysnc 144hz I see dramatically better performance with the i9 + 2080ti AMP build.

It's not like either of these choices will disappoint of course. I mainly upgrade to push things further and further. From 2700X to 3700X to a test and sold 3900X, and from 4790k to 8086k to 9900KS. 1080ti, Titan XP, 2080ti.

And all the while, CPU is consistently letting me down in the search for high FPS. Even with all low details and disabled AA, many of the most demanding titles get stuck at 70-90fps on my Ryzen, and 100-115fps on my i9. Not good enough.

This is the newest game out to show similar gaps, the new Ori. Now of course it's not anything that demanding. Cyberpunk is coming later this year, and I'm thinking it will absolutely crush slower CPUs though, hopefully something comes out that's way faster than anything currently available.

Maybe I am just not demanding enough. I am happy with my 3700X and RX5700 XT in Outer Worlds and Borderland 3 at 1440p.
There are just too many security holes on Intel side right now.
