Want to replace my Nexus 7 (POS) with used/cheap tablet

There's potentially one good 7" tablet, the Huawei MediaPad T2 7.0 Pro. One spec lacking is the SoC (Snapdragon 615) but otherwise it looks like the best or one of the best 7" tablets in a while.

Tried out some ROMs this weekend, forgot how much of a PITA it is to find something good for the first gen N7 LOL.

Ended up just flashing stock KitKat on it with NRT and disabled the update notifier. Actually running pretty decently.

I am loving the LG Pad X 8.0 I bought from Swappa new for $158. T-Mobile offered the tablet essentially for free at introduction so people are reselling them at a profit. Mine was unlocked. The tablet can be bootloader unlocked and rooted. TWRP is available. There are no custom ROMs but stock with Nova launcher is fine. Comes with Marshmallow. After two months there is zero lag. I'm very fussy but this tablet is magnitudes better than the Samsung Tab Pro or Dell 7000 I had previously.

Wow, this actually looks pretty damn decent. A 7 or 8" tablet with nice specs is hard to find. Something to consider!

I got my old first gen N7 running stock KitKat, which is def better than 5.0 or any of the ROMs I've tried on it. But it's still a bit slow for my liking, especially now that I have this Axon 7 phone which makes me notice the slowness of the Nexus even more.

How is the e-reader mode? Is it really comparable to a Nook or Kindle or is it gimmicky?

You've got me really tempted to make this LG my 8" media consumption/e-reader tablet and turn my N7 into a dedicated picture frame.

Are there many case options for this bad boy?

edit: Gah, looks like this one won't let you install apps on the sim card.
