Want to set up PC audio to samsung Smart TV

Hey everyone, I hope someone can give me some advice. I just bought a Samsung Smart TV, I managed to get the picture set up just fine (DVI to HDMI cable). However the audio has given me a bit of an issue. What I'm attempting to do is make the audio from my PC run to the TV without an audio jack (the jack is broken on my PC and is not an option right now). I then want to use the TV's digital audio to make the sound play through an Astro A40 headset with 5.1 digital sound. Any tips on how i can accomplish this? Or is the broken jack what's stopping me? Thanks in advance!

DVI doesn't carry audio. You need a separate connection for sound. So yes, the broken jack is your problem. Your other option is to get a HDMI equipped video card.

this! or push a toslink connection from your mobo (if you have it) to your tv or reciever (if either have it)

A graphics card with an HDMI cable is your best solution. It has the added benefit of also working with almost all surround sound receivers made in the last 4-5 years (and pretty much everything for at least the next 2-3 years as well).

If you only use the PC as a home theater PC usage, internet, word/spreadsheets, and don't do any PC games, you can get something in the $25-40 range (depending on rebates). I believe Microcenter had an Asus HD6450 for $25 after rebate.

This is not totally true. AMD cards can stream HD audio over DVI with a certain DVI to HDMI adapter. I believe some Nvidia cards can also.

Most standardized solution is use a Video Card with HDMI output .. They are cheap and worth it to avoid the hassle ..
