I have 2 gb of Buffalo Firestix PC2-6400 on my Abit FP-IN9 SLI right now. Thi is pleanty for me for gaming with XP, however I have started getting interested in Video editing and I want to switch to Vista is the near future.

So, I feel I will probably need to upgrade to 4gb af RAM soon.

Would it be best to sell the 2gb of Buffalo and buy 2gb x 2 sticks of something else possibly in a higher speed?

Or.... would I best beeter off keeping the Firestix (1gb x 2) and getting 2 more sticks for a total of 4gb?

Does the dual channel still work ok with 4 sticks?

What would be my best option?

I have a Core Duo 6600 and a BFG 8800GTX BTW

The "sweet spot" for Vista is 3GB isn't it? So 4GB should be even better. You can save money and just get two 1GB sticks. Dual channel should still work as long as each matching pair are in the same colored slots.

A. Determine what programs you'll be using to edit video.
B. Read forums where members discuss issues they are having with Vista and your editing programs. Video editing programs can be very fussy (they are not like games).
C. Why switch to Vista... Buy a Mac Pro with Tiger.
D. Save your money until you have a definite plan.

Nice setup. I like that Abit board.

My suggestion, keep what you have, get more if you want more. Assuming you have this, I'd buy more and call it a day.

I have four 1GB sticks of Ballistix DDR2 800 on my 650i and can do 4-4-4 1T no problem. If you managed to tighten timings on the Firestix, keep them and get more. 1T is possible with four sticks. DDR2 1000 is overrated. Good timings on what you have will serve you well...
