Want Vendor other than NewEgg...

I have a friend who has had bad experiences with NewEgg(mine have been great) who would like others to chose from. He especially needs to purchase amd cpus. Any suggestions appreciated.

I like mwave and I too am avoiding NewEgg because of several bad experiences.

Edit: I just had to send back a mobo to mwave and the process was painless. No long wait on hold, no blaming the customer, just asked for the order number and I was done.

That's not true for many items, once you add in Newegg's nasty shipping costs.

I recently placed my first order with Essential Computers, and I must say that I was very impressed. The price on the Tyan motherboard was only a few dollars more than NewEgg, and it shipped out the SAME DAY via Fedex Express 2-day. Placed the order on a late Tuesday afternoon, and the board was delivered Thursday afternoon. And the shipping charge was very reasonable, too -- $12.

www.directron.com is pretty nice because it's in texas and not in CA so you can avoid that nasty ~8% from mwave.com, googlegear, and newegg. prices aren't that high and shipping is reasonable

I agree that Essential Computers is a great place to buy some parts. Last summer, I bought a PIII 1.0 GHz Slot 1 CPU. I ordered it, then I got a call the next day. They said that they had just shipped out the CPU and wanted to let me know that it should arrive in a few days. I thought that was a nice touch checking up to let me know that everything was on its way. They then called back a few days later to be sure that it got there. Very nice customer service and I'd use them again in the future.
